First Things Speaks to the Kashrut-Katholic Golem

Wolf in priest's clothing, Richard John Neuhaus is founder of the Kosher-Katholic rag, First Things whose stated purpose is "to advance a religiously informed public philosophy for the ordering of society." While Neuhaus' mission statement doesn't say which religion the philosophy he is attempting to reorder society around derives from, that's not difficult to ascertain--it's rabbinic Judaism. We know this because Neuhaus has peddled hair-splitting pilpul intended to confuse rabbinic "premptive" destruction halacha with Catholic just war doctrine. "Preemptive" destruction is perfectly Catholic as long as you call it "defense" rather than "preemptive war" according to John Neuhaus. I am reminded of how the rabbis called the indiscriminate destruction of the defenseless nation of Lebanon by the Israeli military an act of "defense" and how this applies to the Palestinian territories on a day to day basis.

Thanks to Richard John Neuhaus we now live in a United States that has been reordered around rabbinic "preemptive" destruction ideology among many other rabbinic absurdities in absolute opposition to Christian principles. Neuhaus did not bring about this transformation alone, of course. Podhorwitz, Krystol, Krauthammer and others played key roles, but what makes Neuhaus, his pal Skull and Bones Bill Buckley and Michael Novak so pernicious is that they neutralized what should have been the major opposition group to the rabbinic "preemptive war" zeitgeist--Catholics--and they accomplished this even while the Judaized Vatican mouthed opposition to a war on Iraq. But far beyond simply neutralizing Catholics during the run up to the destruction of Iraq, Neuhaus and friends seem to have transformed Catholics into a golem which does the will of the rabbis in nearly all matters without even being payed for it like Neuhaus is.

This is a remarkable feat of human alchemy. Neuhaus must have been a sorcerer's apprentice under his old friend, Vatican II change-agent Rabbi Abraham Heschel, a Kabbalist who was invited to participate in the writing of the Vatican II document Nostra Aetate who at that very time confided to his fellow "Jews" regarding Christians, "I want to attack their souls."

William F. Buckley Jr. dies at 82

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- National Review founder and conservative commentator William F. Buckley Jr. was found dead Wednesday in the study of his Stamford, Connecticut, home, officials at the magazine said. He was 82.

"Buckley died while at work," said Kathryn Jean Lopez, editor of the National Review Online, in a written statement. "If he had been given a choice on how to depart this world, I suspect that would have been exactly it. At home, still devoted to the war of ideas."

Buckley's assistant, Linda Bridges, said he had suffered from emphysema for a few years, but the exact cause of death is unknown. She said Buckley was found dead by his cook at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

"Even though he had been ailing, this took us completely by surprise," said Bridges, who worked with Buckley for nearly 40 years.

"He was a great hero of American conservatism -- a brilliant and exciting writer and public performer," she added. "And he was somebody I was very proud and glad to call a friend."

Buckley's writings are widely credited for supporting the growth of the U.S. conservative movement in the latter half of the 20th century.

Kasper's "Judeo-Christian" Deception

Catholic Church Conservation blog has provided the following translation of a statement made by Cardinal Walter Kasper on Radio Vatikan:

Curial Cardinal, Walter Kasper has given the assessment that Christian-Islamic dialogue continues to be difficult. There should be in this respect be no illusions, said the President of the Pontifical Council for Unity on Friday at a meeting of the Academy of Sciences in Mainz. Muslims derived from the Koran a different understanding of people. He stressed that the Catholic Church wants dialogue and cooperation with the moderate Muslims. With the radicals, however, this was not possible. No false "idea of harmony " should be allowed to develop, said Kasper. Also, Islam and Judaism are not on an equal footing. Christianity was without the Jewish religion not possible, however, Islam was founded after Christianity.

Walter Kasper is a protege of the Hasidic philosopher, Martin Buber and the Pope's liaison to the rabbis, so we know that he is well informed on Judaism and therefore we can rule out ignorance here. Kasper is well aware that the authoritative texts of Judaism post-date Christ, a fact which undercuts Jewish-Christian dialogue by the same argument he applies to dialogue with Muslims. Furthermore, "Jews" through their Bible-nullifying Talmud and Kabbalah, derive an understanding of humanity entirely incompatible with Christianity--precisely the argument Kasper applies to Muslims and the Koran in claiming there is a poor basis for dialogue with Muslims.

Now, from The Catholic Herald, a truly offensive neocon rag for which Damien Thomson serves as chief editor, we see this editorial in which it is argued that the language of the Good Friday liturgy should be changed because it is "insulting," "offensive" and "antisemitic."

Also, a strange historical-relativist argument is put forth that in order for the 1962 Latin Missal to be part of a "living heritage" it must conform to the present "legitimate" zeitgeist, which, consequently, is absolutely foreign to, and is indeed hostile to the 2000-year tradition of the Church founded on immutable truths. The implication is that failure to bring the Latin Missal into conformity with the Holocaustolatry of our times, where everything is gauged in reference to the Auschwitz homocidal gas chambers myth instead of the true point of reference-- Calvary, will render the Latin Mass part of a "dead," "antisemitic" heritage, and those who adhere to it, loathsome "Jew-haters."

A Missal for the 21st century

If it is true that Pope Benedict is to rewrite the traditional Latin Good Friday Prayer from the 1962 (Tridentine) Missal to remove insulting references to the “blindness” of the Jews, then we warmly welcome his initiatives. For, in doing so, the Holy Father will send out two powerful signals.

First, that the language of the prayer is offensive. These patronising references to the Jews are an invitation to anti-Semitism – indeed, precisely the sort of anti-Semitism that lurks on the fringes of the traditionalist movement, though the problem is largely confined to communities outside the official structures of the Church. In future, no one will be able to invoke an approved Missal to justify anti-Jewish feeling. Some Lefebvrists may throw up their hands in horror, but that helps explain why they are not in full communion with the Holy See.

Second, the apparent willingness of the Holy Father to rewrite a controversial prayer from the “Tridentine Rite” (as it was once known) underlines a crucial point: that the 1962 Missal of Blessed Pope John XXIII forms part of the Church’s living liturgical heritage. As Pope Benedict’s apostolic letter Summorum Pontificum made clear, the classical form of the Roman Rite may not be the normative text of the Mass, but it enjoys full parity with the 1970 Missal.

The rights of Catholics who prefer the classical form to the Novus Ordo have been obscured for 40 years; they were restored on July 7, 2007, though we may have to wait before local bishops accept the new reality. But with rights come responsibilities. If traditionalists are to rebut the charge that their liturgical preferences are a reflection of their nostalgia, then they must demonstrate that the classical rite is as suited to the 21st century as it was to the 16th. One way to do this is to accept that the older Missal is not set in stone – how could it be, when it bears the date of 1962? – and can be revised to take account of the legitimate sensibilities and insights of our own generation. Then it will truly deserve the title of the Missal of the Ages.

One statement from Thomson's scribblings is worth repeating:

Thomson is either too stupid to realize that the Good Friday liturgy's "anti-Jewish" language is scripture-based, or he thinks traditionalists are too stupid to know it themselves. Judging from the wholly inadequate traditionalist commentary on this issue, one wonders if he'd be correct in assuming ignorance on their part.

Scalia "Traditionalism"

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's son, Paul is a priest in the D.C. area who apparently offers the Traditional Latin Mass. Bloggers comment on the flawless Latin and rubrics at his Masses, but also attest to something askew, as is to be expected with neoconservatives:

During the course of the Mass, Fr. Scalia gave an excellent and timely homily on Holy Michael the Archangel, and how he, along with Our Lady, will be our patrons in the battles against relativism and Islam.

Now, I'm as much opposed to relativism as anyone, and I also am concerned with Islam moving into the void that suicidal so-called Christians are leaving for others who do have children and uphold their religion to fill. But if there's a connection between the scourge of relativism in the West and Islam, I'm afraid someone will have to point that out to me. On the other hand, I would be glad to point out to Fr. Scalia that the transmitter of relativism in the West for centuries has been that tradition which his father, Antonin is so enamored by, the Talmudic tradition of Judaism.

It's also curious to see Fr. Scalia, in a rather suspect revisionist twist, make St. Michael to be a warrior against Islam. I recall that Leo XIII's prayer to St. Michael calls him to do battle against:

... principalities and powers, rulers of darkness in this world ... most crafty enemies [who] have filled and inebriated with gall and bitterness the Church, the Spouse of the Immaculate Lamb, and have laid impious hands on her most sacred possessions. In the Holy Place itself, where has been set up the See of the most holy Peter and the Chair of Truth for the light of the world, they have raised the throne of their abominable impiety, with the iniquitous design that when the Pastor has been struck, the sheep may be scattered ... (Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel, Pope Leo XIII 1888, Raccolta 1933)

Quite plainly, it's not Islam that Leo XIII addresses here. Leo XIII was crystal clear as to who the enemy is, as anyone who has read his many encyclicals against Judeo-Masonry and the perpetual condemnation of Talmud and Kabbalah in his Index Expurgatorius is aware.

Any reader of this blog will know that it is not Imams, crypto-Muslims or philo-Muslims who've laid their hands on the possessions of the Church, raising their throne of abominable impiety in the Holy Place itself.

Now, there most certainly is a battle being waged against Islam led by such characters as Wurmser, Ledeen, Perle, Podhoretz, Netanyahu, Cheney, and Bush, but are we to believe that this battle is being fought for the reign of Christ the King and that St. Michael is aiding it, as Fr. Scalia suggests?

Who would stand to benefit from Fr. Paul Scalia's creative account of who St. Michael's temporal enemies are?

Frankly, I've had enough of this neocon, crusader nonsense. If any so-called Catholic is stupid enough to buy into this garbage, I can't stop them from going along with it, but I'll be damned if I'll let them get away with calling it Catholic.
