Lord Jonathan Sacks, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregation of the Commonwealth, met with Pope Benedict on Monday to discuss interfaith relations and their common concern for the decline of spiritual values within European culture.
Rabbi Sacks, who has been spiritual leader of the mainstream Orthodox Jewish communities in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong since 1991, said faith, in the modern world, has no political power but it does have a great deal of influence - especially among those who question the kind of value system they want for their children. Asked about a rise in anti-Semitism in Europe, the Rabbi stressed that Jews cannot fight anti-semitism alone, "the victim cannot cure the crime, the hated cannot cure the hate." He said he will fight for the right of Christians anywhere in the world to live their faith without fear, "but I need them to fight for the right of my people to live their faith without fear."

Asked if the current political stalemate in between Israelis and Palestinians could be behind this resurgent anti-Semitism, Sachs said "we must not allow ourselves to import a message of conflict from the Middle East to Europe.

The Kvetching Pope, Abe Foxman has issued another of his kvetching edicts, this one titled, "ADL Deeply Disturbed by Archbishop's Remarks Likening Politicians in Trinidad and Tobago to Jews":

... Port of Spain Archbishop Edward Gilbert was reported to have [likened Trinidad and Tobago politicians to Jews] during a Jubilee Mass held October 24 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Roman Catholic Church in San Fernando to celebrate the 225th anniversary of the Roman Catholic mission there.

"The Jews were compassionate and caring for their own, they were compassionate and caring to the people of their nation, to the people of their race, to the people of their ethnic communities. However, that wasn't enough for Jesus. Jesus took that teaching and universalized it," Archbishop Gilbert told his congregation, according to a news report. "In many cases in this country, there are people who love one another, who are compassionate, but they have the mindset of the original Jewish people. They are good to their own ... but they have not universalized the concept of love."

Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director, said the archbishop's statements as reported were "a disturbing repackaging of ancient anti-Jewish canards and supersessionist beliefs."

"Archbishop Gilbert devalues Judaism over and against Christianity," said Mr. Foxman. "The false notion that Jews only care about themselves and don't care enough about others is one of the major pillars of classical anti-Semitism."

"While the Catholic Church has made tremendous strides in countering anti-Jewish notions such as the belief that the advent of Christianity superseded Judaism, Archbishop Gilbert's statements show that he has not internalized the important reforms of Vatican II."

I agree that Pope Foxman is deeply disturbed and I would be happy to illustrate one of the many reasons why.

Above we see Pope Foxman in his edict to the Goyim proclaim that it's a damnable "major pillar of classical anti-Semitism" to recognize the fact that Judaism is not a universal religion but a tribal religion which teaches its adherents to favor the tribe over outsiders.

But over here, in Foxman's inter-office memo to the tribe not meant for Goy eyes to see, Foxman admonishes the tribe to not love universally because to do so is "Judaism lite" which "brushes past the theological significance of acting on behalf of Jews."

“What I’ve been critical of is those who have sold Judaism as, ‘All you have to do is love universally and that’s Judaism,’ ” Foxman said. “It’s not—it’s ersatz Judaism. It’s Judaism lite.” It also, Foxman added pointedly, has the potential to elevate political action on behalf of others while brushing past the theological significance of acting on behalf of Jews.

Tikkun Olam is a Tribal, not Universal, Concept

Evidently, Pope Foxman is deeply disturbed because he wants to enforce his tribal racket while defining it a damnable heresy for any outsider to recognize that fact. To paraphrase St. Augustine, by doing so, his madness, not innocence, is manifest.

I have often marveled at the word-magic I've read in pseudo-scholarly post-graduate volumes as they circle around the white elephant of Judaic tribalism (euphemized as "particularism") for hundreds of pages dedicated to mesmerizing the reader into the false belief that Judaism is a universal, progressive, enlightened religion.

The deeply disturbing part of it is the deception and browbeating of observers into not acknowledging what is plain before their eyes--that Judaism is the most un-universal religion in existence, if not in history. Every sane person knows it. Everyone who has lived among followers of the rabbis has experienced it. There are individual exceptions among "Jews," but as Foxman says in his inter-office memo, they are not really living according to true Judaism.

That this even has to be decoded is a testament to the state of degradation we've descended to. Of course Judaism is tribal; the word plainly means tribe-of-Judah-ism. It's about sustaining the tribe of counterfeit Judah at all costs. It's not about loving and serving God; loving ones non-Judaic neighbor as oneself or any such universal value.

Pray for Pope Foxman that God will relieve him of his deeply disturbed state and that he will cease his attempts to inculcate the same in us. Until he is miraculously healed, tell your friends, family and clergy to ignore the disturbed ravings of the self-chosen Pope Foxman.

Trusted colleagues inform me that the cache of 1.600 leaked documents now known as the ‘Palestine Papers' came from three main sources: Palestinian nationalists who are opposed to Palestinian National Authority (PNA) policies and reject their role as negotiators; former members of the PNA who have defected due to differences with the leadership and have old scores to settle; and people who anticipated financial reward for their contribution.

While Palestinians reel with shock at the contents of confidential minutes, e-mails, memos and handwritten notes, the PNA's leadership is equally horrified at having been discovered courting Israeli and US officials and selling its countrymen down the line.

It should come as no surprise that the PNA is so porous. The organisation's internal affairs are chaotic and its leaders embarrassingly amateurish.

As countless commentators have pointed out, not one of the group currently brokering the future of Palestine — Mahmoud Abbas, Saeb Erekat, Ahmad Qorei, Yasser Abed Rabbo and Salam Fayyad — has a current mandate to do so. Mahmoud Abbas' presidential term, for example, expired on January 9, 2009, when he unilaterally re-elected himself!

Any notion that this desperation to cling to power was motivated by anything other than self interest, has now been extinguished.

The Palestine Papers reveal a gut-wrenching level of PNA collusion — against its own people — with Israel, the US and Britain. It is also clear that for PNA leaders the enemy is Hamas, not Israel.

Infamous for human rights abuses and imprisoning its rivals without trial, the PNA's security apparatus — we now discover — was founded on a blueprint commissioned by Tony Blair and developed by the British secret service, MI6, in 2004. Israel is close at hand to help: in a 2006 conversation with America's Keith Dayton, Erekat celebrated the PNA's ‘security liaison with Israel'.

At its most sinister, this unpalatable collaboration includes a casual approach to the murder of fellow Palestinians: documents from 2005 detail a discussion between Israeli defence minister, Shaul Mofaz and PNA interior minister, Nasser Yousuf about Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades leader Hassan Al Madhoun. "We know his address ... Why don't you kill him?" Mofaz asked.

Yousuf replied that ‘instructions' had been given but complains ‘you haven't offered anything'. In the event Madhoun was murdered by Israeli forces. In September 2009, Erekat told a US official that "we have killed our own people to ... establish one authority, one gun and the rule of law".

The documents reveal an incomprehensible attitude to Israel's winter 2008-09 onslaught (code-named Operation Cast Lead) in which 1,400 Palestinians — nearly half of them women and children — lost their lives.

Clandestine meeting

First we discover that Israeli intelligence chief, Amos Gilad, alerted Abbas prior to the attack and met with no resistance. Then from WikiLeaks, we learn that on December 29, 2008, PNA security chiefs held a clandestine meeting with top Israeli military and intelligence officials: not, as we would have hoped, to angrily berate their bloodthirsty enemy, but to discuss the best way to handle anti-Israel protests in the West Bank. According to the US Embassy cable, "the two sides agreed to expedite coordination and exchange information on disturbances".

On October 2, 2009, Abbas blocked a UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution supporting the Goldstone Report. The resolution would have paved the way for a war crimes prosecution against the architects of ‘Operation Cast Lead' including Ehud Olmert and Tzipi Livni (then foreign minister).

Leaked minutes from a Washington meeting between Senator George Mitchell and Erekat suggest that the UNHRC vote was used as a bargaining tool: Mitchell promised to broker a resumption of the stalled peace process and to talk up the Palestinians' demands in exchange for Abbas calling for the vote to be deferred. It was during this meeting that Erekat enthusiastically insisted that "we want to help the Israelis".

The papers consistently portray a PNA more concerned with remaining in power than the welfare of fellow Palestinians. In 2008, it blocked the release of 450 Arab prisoners in exchange for kidnapped Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit. Qorei bluntly informed Livni that such a move would "make Hamas appear as a hero before the public and that Abu Mazen [Mahmoud Abbas] gives speeches only".

Also in 2008, concerned that Israel's brutal siege of Gaza was being thwarted by Palestinians tunnelling along the Egyptian border, Qorei urged Livni to "occupy the [Philadelphi] crossing".

Six months before Livni personally oversaw ‘Operation Cast Lead', Qorei flattered the Kadima leader saying "I'd vote for you". The papers are littered with such sycophancy: Erekat frequently addresses Netanyahu by his pet name ‘Bibi'.

Yet the Israeli and US negotiators showed little respect for the PNA group. In 2008, the Israelis presented a map of proposed land swaps, but wouldn't let the Palestinians keep a copy. The sight of the then 73-year-old Abbas copying the map on to a paper napkin is truly painful.

The end of the Palestine Papers' depressing saga sees an increasingly desperate Palestinian team surrendering one key national position after another: it offers Israel nearly all of occupied east Jerusalem (Erekat cringe-makingly refers to it by its Hebrew name, Yerushalayim); it agrees to Israel annexing its illegal colonies and it limits the right of return to just 10,000 refugees. The Israelis scorn every offer and cold-bloodedly ask for more. Then US secretary of state Condoleezza Rice expertly extinguishes the last flickerings of Palestinian pride with the suggestion that its refugees could be transferred to Latin America.

The PNA leaders and negotiators have completely discredited themselves and the Peace Process. As valiant protesters put their lives on the line for regime change in Egypt, Jordan and Yemen, Abbas and his men must realiee that the days of autocratic, oppressive and corrupt Middle Eastern regimes are numbered.

Abbas is making it known that he intends to resign in September — no doubt hoping that a miracle will occur in the intervening time to save him. The whole group should go immediately, but will probably cling to power until the last possible moment, unwilling to relinquish the material benefits and status they have become addicted to.

There can be no more negotiations between today's Israeli government and these fake Palestinian representatives. The Palestinian people have to start their struggle again in a spirit of national reconciliation and unity, never forgetting that they are an occupied people, resisting all the evils of Israeli occupation through civil disobedience and, if necessary, intifada.

The Palestine Papers represent a shameful history that should now be torn up.

Australian Pharisees Suggest Christians Abandon the Gospel

Papal show raises concerns in Sydney

A procession planned during a visit by Pope Benedict XVI could incite anti-Semitism, Australian Jewish leaders warned.

Roman Catholic officials in Sydney already have cut back a Stations of the Cross procession to be staged during the pope's visit in July, from 14 stations to eight, but one segment still raises concerns, according to Vic Alhadeff, the director of the New South Wales Jewish Board of Deputies. It is the third station, where Jesus is condemned by the Sanhedrin, the ancient Jewish tribunal.

"We are concerned at how this scene will be dramatized if it is to be retained," Alhadeff said after a May 20 board resolution expressed disappointment at its inclusion. "The historical and biblical questions surrounding the notion that there was a formal Sanhedrin trial argue for extreme caution and, perhaps, even abandoning the device," the resolution said.

A spokesman for the procession's organizers said that "we've accommodated them [the Jews] where appropriate, but we’re unable to change the New Testament. Ultimately, we’re acknowledging that Christ was crucified for and by all sinners."

The July 18 event is expected to attract 500,000 pilgrims.

Rabbi Shlomo Riskin is launching an Orthodox center for dialogue with Christians.

Organizers of the Center for Jewish-Christian Understanding and Cooperation say it is the first Orthodox Jewish institution of its kind dedicated to theological dialogue with Christians.

The center, which is slated to open in June in Efrat, Israel, will host seminars for Jewish and Christian scholars and promote research aimed at making religion an instrument of peace in the world.

"A sea change has occurred since the Shoah,” Riskin, the chief rabbi of Efrat, told the Christian Post. “Most churches now teach that God remains faithful to His covenant with the Jewish people, and that the biblical promise is continually being reaffirmed by the Jewish return to its homeland in Zion."

In January 2008, in a Jerusalem Post editorial, Rabbi Shlomo Riskin reminded his fellow so-called "Jews" that they're obligated to proselytize the "Goyim" to follow the anti-Biblical Talmudic "Noahide Laws:"

Walter Kasper is a protege of the Hasidic philosopher, Martin Buber and the Pope's liaison to the rabbis, so we know that he is well informed on Judaism and therefore we can rule out ignorance here. Kasper is well aware that the authoritative texts of Judaism post-date Christ, a fact which undercuts Jewish-Christian dialogue by the same argument he applies to dialogue with Muslims. Furthermore, "Jews" through their Bible-nullifying Talmud and Kabbalah, derive an understanding of humanity entirely incompatible with Christianity--precisely the argument Kasper applies to Muslims and the Koran in claiming there is a poor basis for dialogue with Muslims.

Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's son, Paul is a priest in the D.C. area who apparently offers the Traditional Latin Mass. Bloggers comment on the flawless Latin and rubrics at his Masses, but also attest to something askew, as is to be expected with neoconservatives:

Now, I'm as much opposed to relativism as anyone, and I also am concerned with Islam moving into the void that suicidal so-called Christians are leaving for others who do have children and uphold their religion to fill. But if there's a connection between the scourge of relativism in the West and Islam, I'm afraid someone will have to point that out to me. On the other hand, I would be glad to point out to Fr. Scalia that the transmitter of relativism in the West for centuries has been that tradition which his father, Antonin is so enamored by, the Talmudic tradition of Judaism.

It's also curious to see Fr. Scalia, in a rather suspect revisionist twist, make St. Michael to be a warrior against Islam. I recall that Leo XIII's prayer to St. Michael calls him to do battle against:

Quite plainly, it's not Islam that Leo XIII addresses here. Leo XIII was crystal clear as to who the enemy is, as anyone who has read his many encyclicals against Judeo-Masonry and the perpetual condemnation of Talmud and Kabbalah in his Index Expurgatorius is aware.

St. Thomas won't host Tutu

A plan to invite Desmond Tutu to speak at the University of St. Thomas next year was scuttled by university officials who did not want to offend the Jewish community over the Nobel Peace Prize laureate's views on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, university officials confirmed Wednesday.

In addition, Cris Toffolo, an associate professor who supported inviting the South African archbishop and activist was removed as director of the St. Paul university's justice and peace studies program in August.

She remains on the faculty.

Tutu's visit will be shifted to Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, according to a local group that had planned to bring him to St. Thomas.

Doug Hennes, vice president for university and government relations at St. Thomas, said the Rev. Dennis Dease, St. Thomas' president, made the final decision not to invite Tutu after consulting with his staff.

"He [Tutu] has been critical of Israel and Israeli policy regarding the Palestinians, so we talked with people in the Jewish community and they said they believed it would be hurtful to the Jewish community, because of things he's said," Hennes said ...

Benedict Praises St. Cyril of Alexandria

Continuing with Benedict's series of talks on the Church Fathers, the latest talk addressing Church Doctor, St. Cyril of Alexandria:

Today, continuing our journey in the footsteps of the Fathers of the Church, we meet a great figure: St. Cyril of Alexandria. Linked to the Christological controversy that led to the Council of Ephesus in 431, and the last noteworthy representative of the Alexandrian tradition, Cyril was later defined in the East as the “custodian of accuracy” -- in other words, a guardian of the true faith -- and even the “seal of all the Fathers."

These ancient expressions manifest something that is, in fact, characteristic of Cyril, that is, the constant references the bishop of Alexandria makes to preceding ecclesiastical authorities -- including, above all, Athanasius -- with the goal of showing the continuity of his own theology with tradition.

If only the same could be said for Benedict. Instead we hear praises for St. Cyril's orthodoxy out of one side of Benedict's mouth and the most heterodox theological speculations imaginable out of the other. Let us consider St. Cyril's approach to religious relations with the "Jews" in contrast to that of Benedict XVI:

But they had caused tumults and had massacred the Christians, to defend whom Cyril himself assembled a mob. It should also be mentioned that St. Cyril of Alexandria lived during the time that the emperor Julian made a project of rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem in an attempt to overturn Christianity. The plan ended in failure and various historians from that period record that this was due to supernatural intervention. Needless to say, St. Cyril was no supporter of this early Zionist movement.

Benedict on St. Gregory of Nyssa

The latest installment in Benedict XVI's series of talks on the Church Fathers focuses on St. Gregory of Nyssa:

In the last few catecheses I spoke about two great doctors of the Church of the fourth century, Basil and Gregory Nazianzen, bishop of Cappadocia, in present-day Turkey. Today we add a third, Basil's brother, St. Gregory of Nyssa, who showed himself to be a man of meditative character, with a great capacity for reflection, and a vivacious intellect, open to the culture of his time. He showed himself in this way to be an original and deep thinker in Christian history ...

Especially after Basil's death, almost garnering his spiritual legacy, Gregory cooperated in the triumph of orthodoxy. He participated in various synods; he tried to settle divisions between the Churches; he took an active part in the Church's reorganization; and, as "a pillar of orthodoxy," he was a protagonist at the Council of Constantinople in 381, which defined the divinity of the Holy Spirit. It is true, St. Gregory of Nyssa was indeed a pillar of orthodoxy, and given that Benedict says as much himself, it's worth examining what this pillar of orthodoxy, St. Gregory of Nyssa wrote of the people who Benedict calls his "elder brothers in the faith" with whom Christians "have a common mission."

The Lawgiver of our life has enjoined upon us one single hatred. I mean, that of the Serpent: for no other purpose has He bidden us exercise this faculty of hatred, but as a resource against wickedness. "I will put enmity," He says, "between you and him." Since wickedness is a complicated and multifarious thing, the Word allegorizes it by the Serpent, the dense array of whose scales is symbolic of this multiformity of evil. And we by working the will of our Adversary make an alliance with this serpent, and so turn this hatred against one another, and perhaps not against ourselves alone, but against Him Who gave the commandment; for He says, "You shall love your neighbour and hate thine enemy," commanding us to hold the foe to our humanity as our only enemy, and declaring that all who share that humanity are the neighbours of each one of us. But this gross-hearted age has disunited us from our neighbour, and has made us welcome the serpent, and revel in his spotted scales.

Now, I do not seize upon this statement by St. Gregory, which is typical to all of the Church Fathers, in an effort to stir up temporal animosity any more than St. Gregory intended to do so, but to demonstrate how double-minded it is of Benedict to on the one hand laud the orthodoxy of the Church Fathers who singularly identified Judaic practices, beliefs and those who uphold them as antithetical and inimical to Christianity, and on the other hand laud the "Jews" who today uphold these same beliefs and practices so opposed by the Church Fathers as our "elder brothers in the faith;" people with whom Christians "have a common mission."

Are they our enemies or our allies? They cannot be both. So, either Benedict or the Church Doctor Gregory of Nyssa and all of the Church Fathers are wrong here. I side with the Church Fathers.

Judaic beliefs have only become more hostile towards Christianity and Christians since St. Gregory's time. For the Vatican to make such a 180 degree turnaround from the position of the Church Fathers on this matter reflects a change on their part only and a most suspicious change at that.

That Neusner and other Jews regard that very Sonship as a deal breaker does not bother him much. "It would be good for the Christian world to look respectfully at this obedience of Israel," he writes, "and thus to appreciate better the great commandments" as universalized by Jesus. Could there possibly be more deception crammed into that single sentence?

Judaic rabbis of Talmud and Kabbalah are Israel whom Christians should respect for their obedience to the commandments of the Bible? Not according to Jesus Christ. Jesus said that the Pharisees don't do the works of Abraham (John 8;40). Jesus said that the Pharisees do not hear the Word of God because they are not of God (John 8;47).

Rabbi Neusner has stated quite plainly in many of his books that his "religion," rabbinic Judaism, traces it's roots to the Pharisees:

"The Pharisees are important for two reasons. First, the Gospels portray them as one of the principle opposition groups to Jesus. Second, Judaism as we know it generally traces its roots back to the Pharisees." (Jacob Neusner, Judaism in the Beginning of Christianity [Philadelphia: Fortress Press 1984], p.45)

So anyone who has read the Gospel of John knows that a spiritual descendant of the Pharisees cannot even hear the Commandments of God, much less obey them. If they did hear and obey God's Word they would be followers of Jesus Christ. (John 14)

But this claim from Benedict can be demonstrated to be backwards even if the "Christological" argument is put aside, for Rabbi Neusner himself has written on many occasions of how the rabbis themselves create "Torah" (see:Talmud) and that their god studies it!

This is what Benedict identifies as the "obedience" of "Israel" which Christians should "look respectfully" to in order to better appreciate the "great commandments"? What great commandments could he possibly be speaking of!?!?! The Biblical commandments? There couldn't be worse abrogators of the Biblical commandments than the rabbis.

Benedict accepts Neusner's argument that He rejects Christ because He changed the Law, but that's exactly what Neusner, his fellow rabbis and their spiritual Pharisaic forefathers have done!!!! Rabbi Neusner demonstrates it himself. They make void the word of God through their tradition. (Mark 7;13) These are the last people Christians should respectfully look to as an example of obedience to the Biblical commandments.

And do I need to point out the backwardness of the Pope of the Catholic Church identifying the spiritual descendants of the Pharisees, who Christ identified as the spiritual sons of the Devil, as "Israel"(John 8;44)? Christ denied the Pharisees their claim to be "Israel" even though they truly were flesh descendants of Abraham (John 8;37). The rabbis of our time are neither flesh or spiritual descendants of Abraham. How much more absurd is their claim to be Israel than that of the Pharisees of Christ's time? And the Pope is attempting to sell us on this claim? Double-minded insanity.

Even if what was implied in Benedict's statement was true--that the rabbis uphold the Biblical commandments as Abraham did--this would be nothing for Christians to admire. Our Messiah, Whom Abraham rejoiced that he might see, has come. Christians have the grace imparted through His sacrifice on the cross and by the descent of the Holy Ghost at the Pentecost (but are they cooperating with it?). Christians have a New Testament infinitely superior to the crude Old Testament which was suitable for a perverse people stained by original sin. Jesus said that John the Baptist was greater than all of the Old Testament Prophets. What would emulation of the Old Testament Prophets merit post Pentecost?
