Policy and Investment Forum Opens at the RP-Japan KR2 and IFAD KLM4

Mr. Yolando C. Arban, Country Programme Officer of IFAD Philippines welcomes more than a hundred participants and guests, 40 % of whom are women, in the Policy and Investment Forum during the RP-Japan KR2 Exhibit and IFAD Knowledge and Learning Market (KLM). The forum was held on October 12, 2010 at SM Megamall located in Ortigas Business Center, Metro Manila, Philippines.

Mr. Arban said that the 2-day forum would be a venue to share experiences and lessons learned in implementing development projects in rural areas and drawing up policy-related issues, options, and solutions. He added that the interactive discussion focuses on making socially-relevant projects economically viable, innovating financing supporting value chain, maximizing Information, Communication Technology (ICT) for rural productivity, investing on the youth for agricultural development and valuing local initiatives.

The policy and investment forum is a dialogue with 12 development practitioners presenting good project practices and innovations. An interactive discussion with 10-member panel of discussants coming from the public and private sectors and donor agencies follows each presentation.

Mr. Arban encouraged the participants to tune in to the theme “Shared Resources, Shared Development” and SHARE; See what’s going on with the projects in rural areas; Hear the voices of the rural poor; Act on issues and concerns that delay rural development; Renew commitment to work for rural development; and Enjoy the “Sharing Resources for Shared Development”.
