Ronald C. Kiener has written a piece on the raid of the Rubashkin kosher meat packing plant in Postville, Iowa which gets to the theological heart of the matter:

... The revulsion that non-Orthodox Jews in the Upper Midwest have for the Hasidim of Postville is visceral and undeniable. Over and over, while talking to non-Orthodox Jews in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area—arguably the Jewish community outside of Postville that has the most at stake in this story—I have heard one constant refrain. “How could this have happened?” they ask rhetorically. “I’ll tell you…,” and then their voices drop a register: “These Hasidim do not think their workers are human beings.”

What these Jews are saying is probably the deepest and darkest secret of the entire story.

This is a tale of Hasidic Jews who are utterly at odds with what most Americans understand as modernity. They learn from their most sacred text, the Tanya (published in 1797 by the founder of Chabad Hasidism, Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi) that “the souls of the nations of the world, the idol worshippers, derive from unclean husks and have no goodness in them whatsoever.”

This xenophobic teaching, an intolerant note hiding within the otherwise fetching melody of Chabad Hasidism, is spun differently for different audiences. But it indicates what can happen when business proprietors armed with a chauvinistic mystical theology that denies the humanity of non-Jews face off against the “laws of the land.” Such behavior might pass unnoticed in the cloistered brownstone neighborhoods of Crown Heights, but in the open light of the prairies, there will be an inevitable clash of civilizations.

Agriprocessors, a multimillion-dollar food manufacturer, defied the rule of state and federal law to wreak havoc on a group of workers and a town they cared nothing about. Ronald Kiener is making light of the matter however. The teaching referenced does not apply only to idol worshipers but to all gentiles. And this is not a just a matter of mysticism. The racist teachings of the Tanya and many other texts of Orthodox Judaism are entirely practical as evidenced in the behavior of the followers of Orthodox Judaism everywhere from the Postville plant to the "settlements" on Palestinian land. And racism is only one of many problems with Orthodox Judaism which are not circumscribed to Chabad Hasidism or Chasidism in general for that matter.

Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen, the rabbi selected by Benedict XVI to address a synod of more than 250 bishops, learned violent Zionist Messianic Judaism from Avraham Yitzhak Kook and his son Zvi Yehudah Kook shown here.

Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen, who Benedict XVI has invited to address the synod of bishops this week, is a protégé of the Messianic Zionist Rabbi Avraham Yitzhak Kook. Rabbi Kook can be credited with formulating the religious rationalization for the "return" of "the Jews" to "Israel" without the arrival of "the Mosiach" occuring beforehand. He taught that "the Jews" themselves bring about "the redemption" through Zionism. This teaching harmonizes with such anti-biblical concepts as "forcing God's hand" and "as above so below." This pantheist pagan view is illustrated in Kook's statement regarding the Zionist state which he said is: "The foundation of God's Throne in the world, whose entire desire is that God shall be One and His Name shall be One." Kook wrote, "Nothing in our faith, either in its larger principles or in its details, negates the idea that we can begin to shake off the dust of exile by our own efforts, through natural, historical processes ... that we have a sacred duty to try to do so by whatever means are at our disposal."

In the mind of Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen's mentor Rav Kook, Zionism is the vehicle through which the apocalyptic rabbinic "redemption" should be humanly created by whatever means possible.

Rav Kook looked forward to the final annihilation of all other nations and cultures and the exultation of "Israel" in the Zionist "messianic" age:

Rav Kook founded the first Zionist yeshiva in Palestine which Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen was trained at, the Mercaz HaRav. This yeshiva is known for its role in the formation of the ultra-racist, terrorist so-called "settler movement:"

The foundations for the religious settlements in the West Bank were forged in Mercaz Harav, whose student Hanan Porat set out to restore the Jewish settlement in Gush Etzion immediately after the Six-Day War. The founders of Gush Emunim, a religious political movement that encouraged Jewish settlement of land they believe God promised the Jews, came from Mercaz Harav after the Yom Kippur War.

Rabbi Kook was also unique in that his yeshiva encouraged military service. Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen apparently took this teaching to heart as he has a long history of militant activity in service of the terrorist Zionist state of counterfeit Israel. Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen was associated with the terrorist Irgun gang HERE. He is the pioneer of the Yeshivat Hesder (arrangement) which is to say, the terrifying combination of advanced yeshiva training in Talmudic racial supremacy with armed "defense."

Rabbi She'ar-Yashuv Cohen here recalls his and Tzvi Yehuda Kook's participation in the 1967 land grab:

Rafael Vardi that if Jerusalem is re-conquered, I would like to be the first citizen to return to it. As soon as they conquered the city, Gen. Vardi sent a jeep to the City Hall where I was at the time, and it brought me to the Old City. On the radio in the jeep I heard the recording of Motta Gur saying 'The Temple Mount is in our hands!', and then we entered the Old City, where I met my father-and-teacher the Nazir [Rabbi David Cohen] and my teacher Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda HaKohen Kook, who had entered a few minutes before me." Rabbi Cohen is currently active in wacko Temple Mount initiatives and has recently stated that the ban on "Jews" ascending the Temple Mount no longer applies:

Rabbi Shar Yashuv Cohen, chief rabbi of Haifa and a member of the Chief Rabbinate Rabbinical Council said the ban on Jews and other non-Muslims ascending the Temple Mount no longer exists although the Chief Rabbinate has yet to officially "endorse" such visits. Chai Center rabbi explains 'off the handle' e-mails

The Chai Center presents itself as an open and non-judgmental address for Jews looking to learn more about Judaism, to have an authentic Jewish experience, or simply to meet other Jews.

"All our activities are for Conservative, Reform, nonaffiliates, & any Jew that moves! They require no prior background for your total enjoyment," the center's tagline reads.

Founded and run by the unpredictable and colorful Rabbi Shlomo Schwartz, best known as just Schwartzie, the Chai Center makes Judaism accessible and hip for the estimated 10,000 to 15,000 Jews who attend its events every year.

At 62, Schwartzie is enormously popular and beloved. A defiantly independent and off-beat character, he can schmooze it up with Hollywood types or go green with millennial do-gooders. His long white beard gives him a look that is both rabbinic and grandfatherly; his untethered vernacular and quirky style make it clear he fits no mold.

His hallmark event is Dinner for 60 Strangers, which he and his wife, Olivia, host every Friday night in their home.

And it was that Shabbat event that attracted Jamie Katz (not her real name), a 42-year-old paralegal and entrepreneur.

Katz was on an emotional mission to deepen her Jewish identity. When her mother was dying a year ago, she had a last request for her daughter: Go explore your Jewish heritage. Join a temple, find a Jewish man.

Jamie's mother, who was Japanese, had converted to Judaism some 45 years before, when she married Jamie's father. Katz and her two brothers had studied at Temple Emanuel religious school in Beverly Hills, and while she says she never felt like she completely fit in as a Japanese Jew, she never considered herself anything but Jewish.

A few weeks ago a friend told her about the Chai Center, so she went online and registered for the Shabbat dinner at the Schwartzes' home. The food was great, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and Katz felt as if she belonged.

The following Sunday, however, she received an e-mail from Schwartzie that felt like a verbal punch in the gut:

"Altho yr surname is [Katz] & U spk Yiddish, thts still does not make yr mother's NON Orthodox 'conversion' kosher [valid]," he wrote to her. "Tht means tht if U ever met a Jewish man who's family Rabbi was Orthodox or, who wanted 2 get married in Israel, U could NOT! ... I appreciate tht U were 'brought up' as a Jew (even tho yr father 'married' out of the faith ), but U may not come 2 any more Chai Center events.... We consider INTERMARRAIGE a grt tragedy for the Jewish ppl, even if the non Jewish person in the equation thinks & feels Jewish.... In the eyes of Al-mighty G*d, it's important 4 U NOT 2 date Jewish men. The result of which could, G-d forbid, end in grt tragedy, 4 both of U."

Shocked and pained, Katz wrote back to Schwartzie, reiterating her commitment to Judaism. In the escalating exchange, Schwartzie castigated Katz's late father for choosing to marry a non-Jew, and about Katz's recently deceased mother, he wrote: "She might have been agrt mother, but as a 'Jewish' mother she was a miserable failure! In truth she really was not a FAILURE as a Jew; since, in the eyes of G-d (where it COUNTS) she wasn't!"

Katz was crushed.

"I thought I would find a safe haven in the Jewish community, and I've been shunned by my own people," said Katz, sobbing into the phone just hours after she received Schwartzie's second missive. "I feel embarrassed and ashamed, like I don't belong and I'm not worthy."

Katz is not the only recipient of such letters from Schwartzie. The Journal has learned that this maverick wizard of outreach has directed angry e-mails to other women he perceives as threats to his mission toward ensuring that Jews marry Jews and thus guarantee the continuation of a 4,000-year chain of tradition.

In addition to Katz, two other women independently sent to the Jewish Journal samples of Schwartzie's letters -- rambling e-mails in large print, heavy with text-message shorthand punctuated with varied text colors, point sizes and fonts. One recipient, who is not Jewish, attended his Rosh Hashanah services last fall with a Jewish friend and followed up by sending the rabbi a question about her Jewish ex-boyfriend. Another woman, who is Jewish, brought a non-Jewish man to Schwartzie's seder in 2005. Filled with foul language and content that can easily be construed as bigoted, sexist and threatening, the e-mails seem to contradict the rabbi's aura of openness and non-judgmental warmth.

In a face-to-face interview, Schwartzie stood his ground when first confronted with the letters. He said that while he regretted language that may have been perceived as a personal attack, he stood by his goal of sounding an intentionally vicious warning to ward off non-Jews who might infiltrate his events in the hopes of ensnaring a Jewish partner and eventually intermarrying.

"It's destroying Jewish people," he said, explaining his visceral abhorrence of intermarriage. "This is not just a sin and you shouldn't do it, like don't eat lobster."

Fixing his blue eyes in a fierce stare, he tried to convey the vehemence of what he wants to get across to the women he calls "shiksas": "You are a f---ing Nazi. You are killing a Jew and I hate you for that and I'll piss on your grave. You are not going to kill my Jews."

In follow-up e-mails, the rabbi offered qualified apologies for his letters.

"My reaction shdnt have been on a personal but more correctly, on an IMpersonal level. It matters not the kind of person tht the Non Jew is. So anythig directed @ the Person of the non Jew is wrong. For tht I declare tht I was mistaken & will personally apologize 2 those tht took it personally," he wrote in an e-mail. As of press time, none of the women had heard from Schwartzie.

Jewish school’s admission policy ‘is racist’

A leading Jewish school has been accused of racial discrimination after it refused to accept a girl whose mother was a convert to the religion.

Her parents are taking legal action against the JFS (formerly the Jewish Free School) for rejecting their daughter’s application, The Times has learnt.

The girl’s father is an Orthodox Jew and her mother, who is the school’s head of English, converted to Judaism more than 20 years ago. But the Office of the Chief Rabbi does not recognise the conversion and so refuses to accept that the child is Jewish.

The couple claim that the school’s admissions code breaches race laws, because it favours children with Jewish-born mothers. Jewish custom dictates that the faith line passes through the mother.

Children from two other families who consider themselves Jewish have also been refused a place. The school insists that the preference it shows to pupils whose mothers were born Jewish is a religious rather than a racial issue.

JFS is one of Britain’s oldest Jewish schools and is the largest Orthodox Jewish school in Europe, with 2,000 pupils. It is described by Ofsted as outstanding and is oversubscribed every academic year ...

Philip Hunter, the Chief Schools Adjudicator ruled that the school was not breaking race relation laws by favouring children born to Jewish mothers, saying this was Jewish law and was therefore a religious issue ...

Most Orthodox Jewish schools use similar admissions criteria. Immanuel College in Hertfordshire says all children “require authorisation from the Chief Rabbi.” Hasmonean High School, in North London, said it adopted the same code.

While members of the Nahal Haredi Battalion have decided to abandon the yeshiva benches in exchange for an M-16 rifle in the IDF, their past study of intricate Talmudic passages is assisting them today in turning into top-of-the-line combat soldiers.

Last week, soldiers from the battalion - also known as Netzah Yehuda - came in first place in a sharp-shooting course at the Adam Training Facility near Modi'in.

Representatives of the Golani and Givati Brigades also participated in the course, during which soldiers are trained to become sharpshooters and are taught to use mathematical equations to calculate the affect wind and distance will have on their shot.

Nahal Haredi, which belongs to the Kfir Brigade and is based in the Jordan Valley, was established eight years ago as a single company. Today it is a full battalion with three companies and an elite counterterror squad.

Most of the battalion's 700 soldiers are recruited in Israel and come from a haredi or national religious background.

A Haredi source involved with the battalion said Monday that the soldiers' impressive results were due to their past Talmud studies, which helped them develop analytical skills.

The source said the battalion's scores were the best obtained this past year at the facility.

"Since the soldiers are haredi, they never really studied advanced math," the source said. "The course trainers broke their heads trying to figure out how the soldiers caught on so quickly until they realized that due to their experience studying Talmud it was a piece of cake for them to understand how to solve the complicated equations."

Israel Tightens Policy on Re-entry Visas

JERUSALEM, Israel, SEPT. 25, 2007 (Zenit.org).- The Israeli government is no longer granting routine re-entry visas to Arab Christian religious leaders who wish to travel in and out of occupied Palestinian territories.

According to information given to the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation by Christian clergy in Jerusalem, Christian church workers will now have to apply for re-entry visas at Israeli consulates each time they travel outside of areas occupied by Israel, a process that normally takes months.

Until now, re-entry visas were normally granted, and church workers traveled around the area and overseas with relative ease.

The new policy means that clergy will no longer be able to move freely between their parishes in occupied territories.

The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation offered the example of Father Fares Khleifat, the only Greek Melkite priest in Ramallah, who traveled to Jordan for several days earlier this month. When he tried to return to his parish on Sept. 14, he was stopped at the Israeli border, and his multiple-entry visa was canceled.

He has been forced to remain in Jordan and his parish now has no priest.

‘Marriage to an Arab is national treason’

Recent poll reveals steep rise in racist views against Arabs in Israel; many participants feel hatred, fear when overhearing Arabic, 75 percent don’t approve of shared apartment buildings

Over half of the Jewish population in Israel believes the marriage of a Jewish woman to an Arab man is equal to national treason, according to a recent survey by the Geocartography Institute.

The survey, which was conducted for the Center Against Racism, also found that over 75 percent of participants did not approve of apartment buildings being shared between Arabs and Jews. Sixty percent of participants said they would not allow an Arab to visit their home.

Five hundred Jewish men and women participated in the poll, which was published Tuesday.

According to the survey, racism against Arabs in Israel has seen a sharp rise since a similar survey was conducted two years ago.

In 2006, 247 racist acts against Arabs were reported, as opposed to 225 one year prior.

About 40 percent of participants agreed that “Arabs should have their right to vote for Knesset revoked”. The number was 55 percent lower in the previous survey. Also, over half of the participants agreed that Israel should encourage its Arab citizens to immigrate from the country.

Over half of the participants said they would not want to work under the direct management of an Arab, and 55 percent said “Arabs and Jews should be separated at entertainment sites”.

‘Arab culture inferior’

Participants were asked what they felt when they overheard someone speaking Arabic. Thirty-one percent said they felt hatred, while 50 percent said they felt fear.

Over 56 percent of participants said they believed that Israel’s Arab citizens posed both a security and a demographic threat to the country.

When asked what they thought of Arab culture, over 37 percent replied, “The Arab culture is inferior.”

“The Center Against Racism has set itself a goal to monitor all racial incidents against Arab citizens, and to fight racism as much as possible under the law through public action,” the center’s annual report said.

Bachar Ouda, the center's director, said the survey’s findings were worrisome, and urged the government to intervene in the situation.

“We call on the education minister to take the gloves off and deal with the issue seriously, because it is dangerous to coexistence. We call on the state prosecutions office, and the attorney general to take action,” Ouda said.

Can Hassidic philosopher, Martin Buber be credited as one of the teachers of the philosophical error of immanentism to the generation of immanentists currently populating Rome?

What is well known is Buber's racist, pantheist (rebadged "panentheist" by him) understanding of Shekinah which he associated with physical "Israel" (i.e. "the Jews"). It would come as no surprise then that Kasper, after having been properly mentored in Judaic self-worship, would turn out to be one of the most valuable Judaic assets in the Vatican working in his capacity as President of the Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews.

Kasper has spoken about Buber's synthesis of "interfaith dialogue" which has proven so disastrous for Christianity:

Kasper speaks lovingly of Buber's diabolical "dialogical thinking"--change synthesized through dialogue--which is simply Hegelian dialectics by another name:

As Martin Buber, one of the most significant representatives of dialogical thinking, says, the truth is located not only in direct subject-object relations but in a “dia”, a “between” which is opened up between the dialogue partners and in which both have a share. Only in the “dia”, the between of a I-thou and a We-relation, do we “have” or, better, do we participate in the objective reality; the subject-object-reality is thus embedded in the subject-subject reality of communication and dialogue. With sublime Hassidic philosophical "truths" such as the above en vogue in Rome, it's no wonder that there's no longer any place for the clunky old thinking of St. Thomas.

How many of you knew how great the influence the thinking of Hassidic philospher, Martin Buber has been in the disastrous course the Vatican has taken in recent decades?

With that thought in mind, I have two questions for the writers and editors of Latin Mass magazine. I've seen that a series of articles has started in the recent edition of Latin Mass on the topic of the philosophical error of immanentism, the first article curiously citing virtually unknown "Hebrew Catholic," Ronda Chervin as an authority for the Catholic side alongside St. Thomas, Pope St. Pius X and documents from the First Vatican Council.

Will the Judaic component of the subversion of Catholic thinking be addressed as it has been here, or will it continue to be studiously avoided as it traditionally has been in the past by Latin Mass magazine?

If it is the latter, who benefits from that arrangement?
