These ungodly precepts of Orthodox Judaism are published on Chabad's own website HERE and HERE. Evidently, they are practiced to this day.

Non-Judaic people, especially Christians, have been bashed over the head with guilt for 60 years for allegedly not doing enough to save 'The Jews' from 'The Holocaust' when the holy books of 'The Jews' tell them not to save the lives of non-'Jews' when they are in danger. The double-standard is so outrageous, it's inconceivable to most people.

People, wake up. Your alleged leaders are forcing relations with the followers of these depraved traditions. There could not be more treacherous direction than this.

Ormond Beach man who drank at Jewish gathering dies in parking lot

ORMOND BEACH -- A man who was drinking at a Jewish holiday party was found dead in the parking lot of the center where members left him to sleep, police said Wednesday.

Jesse Allen, 28, who moved to Ormond Beach from Meadville, Pa., in November, was found dead Friday morning by the rabbi of the synagogue, a police report shows.

"It was a death that is apparently related to a possible alcohol poisoning," said Ormond Beach police Lt. Kenny Hayes. "There is nothing suspicious about the death."

An autopsy was completed Tuesday, but police are awaiting toxicology test results to determine what killed Allen, Hayes said.

Allen was at a party at the Chabad Lubavitch of Greater Daytona at 1079 W. Granada Blvd., the night before he was found dead, Hayes said.

Rabbi Pinchas Ezagui, 46, said in a telephone interview that at least 100 people were celebrating Purim, a Jewish holiday in which people dress up in costumes.

"It was a very joyous party, a party for family and children," Ezagui said.

Purim is a festive Jewish holiday recounting the deliverance of the Jewish people from an extermination plot by Haman, as recounted in the Bible's Book of Esther. Along with a festive meal, heavy drinking used to be part of the tradition, though that is officially discouraged now, according to the website meirpanim.org ["officially" heavy drinking is said to be discouraged in P.R. material directed towards the public, but this is not so in actual practice].

Ezagui said alcohol was not served at Thursday's party, though some families brought alcoholic beverages with them.

"We don't serve it, but there is a bottle here and a bottle there," Ezagui said.

The rabbi told police he saw Allen come into the building for the party about 8 p.m. Thursday.

Later, Ezagui saw Allen was intoxicated to the point that he had urinated in his pants, the report states.

A member of the Jewish group, Igor Nikomarov, 24, escorted Allen out of the center. Nikomarov left Allen on the grass to sleep his drunkenness off, police said. Nikomarov did not return a reporter's call seeking comment Wednesday.

"It is a very unfortunate situation," Ezagui said. "We don't know the guy. He is not of the Jewish faith."

Allen's mother, Lynn Allen, said her son loved Jewish tradition and in an email he told her he was excited to go the Purim.

She said her son loved to play drums and guitar and "sang like an angel and composed praise songs." She will always remember her son as a giving and helpful person. Just before he left Pennsylvania, Jesse Allen gave his bicycle, his only means of transportation, to an Afghanistan veteran who had been on three tours in the war, his mother said.

Lynn Allen said her son was working on overcoming a problem with alcohol and she thought he had stopped drinking recently. She was struggling to understand why her son was left on the grass after the party.

"It's not the rabbi's fault that my son drank," Lynn Allen said. "But as a community we look after each other and in Pennsylvania we are struggling to understand why they left him there."

Recently a particularly thoughtful commenter on this blog mentioned in passing that he identifies as a Noachide, that is, a Gentile believer in Torah. I was so interested to hear this that I wrote to him and asked for his story, which he graciously provided. I am copying it below. It's truly a privilege for me to have such a person among my readers.

But first a note of introduction. A few weeks back I startled some Jewish readers by saying that Judaism in its classical sources is a missionary religion. Not that Jews are enjoined to convert Gentiles to Judaism, but rather to draw them to the primordial Torah religion of Noachism. This is assumed to be the faith practiced by Noah and bequeathed to humanity.

In this model, which the Talmud details in tractate Sanhedrin, Jews follow the moral and ritual Mosaic code, while Gentiles follow the Noachide code. But the model of spiritual reality revealed in the Torah is a gift given to both Jews and Gentiles.

Maimonides makes it very clear in his Mishneh Torah that Jews are commanded to use whatever means are at our disposal to encourage (that's putting it mildly) non-Jews in this Noachide path (Laws of Kings 6:10). Yes, Judaism is an aggressively missionary religion, if not in current practice then in theory.

That having been said, I'll introduce you to my reader and friend, Brian Beckman:

I'm a physicist, and was brought up as a very conservative, traditional Catholic. The church changed dramatically in my youth. From my point of view, it wasn't wrenching, because I didn't change. That left me without an emotional connection to God, but also free to pursue a more durable, intellectual connection.


It can be tricky to look for God in a science-saturated life, but if one digs deep enough, one will find the need either for an Original Cause or for an Anthropic Principle. While I grant that anthropism is logically coherent, I find it empty, like a tautology. It's equally sound to suppose that the universe is here because God wants it. At that point, all one needs to compose a logically coherent notion of God is to study and sift good ideas from bad ones, which, as a physicist, I know how to do.

I am an unofficial Noahide. I follow the Seven Laws of Noah found in the Torah and detailed by Maimonides. I'm unofficial only because I have not yet had the chance to take a formal oath, but I would certainly do so. In ancient Israel, I might have been ger toshav -- a legal alien, and I might have aspired to be ger tzedek -- a righteous gentile, a very high calling indeed, likely beyond my ability to achieve.

These laws contain nothing surprising to any typical American with a passing acquaintance with the Bible and the Ten Commandments. According to my reading of Rabbi Elijah Benamozegh (see Jewish and Christian Ethics, and Israel and Humanity), a typical American Christian trying to follow basic Christian ethics would, in fact, be a de-facto Noahide even if not aware of it. 




That's kind of the point though. How did an nice, ordinary, American Catholic boy like me end up in such an unusual place? Visions? Dramatic conversions? No, much more boring. I found it by studying and listening to smart people.

There are three aspects to my Noahism: how I act, how I think, and what I believe. 

Practically, I study Torah almost daily and, when I have the privilege, I share Shabbat and other events with my Orthodox Jewish friends. These are new habits for me, but not conflicting with the life I've led since I went into religious "dry docks" in the early 1970s. Like many others, my traditionalist ship was unable to respond quickly enough to the tidal changes in the Catholic Church and I just put religion in-toto into safe storage and got on with other things. 




In my thinking, I've reached a synthesis that I can articulate and defend. Orthodox Jews and Catholics regard the Torah (the five books of Moses) as a direct revelation from God. But there is a fork in the road: Orthodox Jews regard it as permanent and immutable, like the laws of physics. Catholic doctrine studies the Bible in the light of St. Paul and the Church fathers. In that light, Jesus' resurrection changed everything and the Old Law doesn't apply any more, even though Jesus himself didn't repudiate it. So which is it? After four years exploring the "permanent and immutable" hypothesis (just beginning, really), I haven't found anything yet to refute it. I know of no place where the Torah states that it is changeable, and I know many places where it states that it is permanent. So if it is, in fact, true, then it seems it must be permanent and immutable.

There are those who reject revelation and treat the Torah not like the laws of physics but as ordinary human literature. I like to note that the claim of Sinai (two million eye witnesses to the theophany) is so outrageous that it must either be true or the most astounding hoax in human history. I have met people who can name their ancestors back to Sinai and claim unbroken verbal transmission of the eye-witness account. It is impressive that a claim like this can last more than 3,000 years with an entire nation believing it. I'll take it on faith.



I believe there is One God, the God of Israel. This much is in keeping with Catholic doctrine, which adds the Mystery of the Trinity. I personally come to grips with this as follows. If Jesus is divine, then he is completely identical with God the Father (according to the doctrinal Mystery). It would then seem inconceivable that Jesus could have any objection at all to devoting oneself to God and to the selfsame Torah that Jesus himself embraced. I realize that this is a personal syllogism and that Catholics will barbecue me over it, but it's the way I have always seen things even when I was a churchgoer.




I am very fortunate to have found this path, and it is only because of the wisdom and kindness of certain Orthodox Jewish acquaintances, now dear friends, that I was even aware of it, let alone enabled to pursue it.

The Wailing Wall Rabbi, Shmuel Rabinovitch, who is often seen in photos of world leaders prostrating themselves at the wall in Jerusalem, will ultimately defer to the Chief Rabbinate on how to deal with the Pope's pectoral cross. In 2000, when JPII made his visit to the Wailing Wall, Judaism was not at its present level of ascendancy. Rabbi Rabinovitch didn't cause a commotion over JPII's pectoral cross as he has during recent visits from bishops and in anticipation of the upcoming Benedict XVI visit. Now, Judaism is much stronger in the Israeli state and around the world and its dispensational component laid out by Maimonides in the Mishneh Torah and in other rabbinic texts is coming into play. Not only is Rabbi Rabinovitch attempting to prevent Benedict XVI from wearing his pectoral cross, he's also brazenly lying in an attempt to blot out the indisputable fact that JPII wore his pectoral cross at the Western Wall in 2000 to make it appear as if there's no change in his current stance which is a move closer towards rabbinic mandates on "idolatry."

When one of Rabbi Rabinovitch's superior rabbis decides for him how this matter should be handled the decision will be based in Maimonides' code of situation ethics: if upholding the true mandates of Judaism pertaining to Christian "idolaters" and their "idols" threatens to cause "The Jews" to be viewed badly or suffer hostility then it's permissible to make an exception. But the fact that the matter is now open for discussion is a clear sign that the momentum is towards the rabbinic ideal.

Even though the Vatican says it has received no formal request for the Pope to remove his golden crucifix during his visit to the Wall, Rabbi Rabinovitch's comments are bound to raise tensions on the eve of the trip. Israel's Foreign Ministry tried to smooth the waters by saying in a statement that "in accordance with rules of hospitality and dignity," the State of Israel will not prevent the Pope from wearing his cross when he visits the Western Wall.

But it is the rabbis rather than the government who hold sway at the Western Wall, and Rabbi Rabinovitch has twice previously turned away Christian delegations. In November 2007 he refused to let Austrian bishops near the wall after they would not remove or conceal their crosses, and in May 2008 he refused a request from a group of Irish bishops and prelates to visit the site. "They wanted to wear their crosses openly," Rabinovitch says ...

Explaining the intensity of feeling over the quintessential symbol of Christianity, Rabbi Ron Kronish, director of the Interreligious Coordinating Council in Israel, a Jerusalem group promoting religious dialogue, says that there exists among ultra-Orthodox Jews "a certain allergy towards the cross." Asking the Pope to remove his cross, he says, is "part of the ongoing paranoia of Jewish history ..."

Rabinovitch was in charge of the Western Wall during the visit of the late Pope John Paul II in 2000, when the pontiff prayed and twisted a written message into the cracks of the ancient stones, observing the Jewish belief that all prayers made at the Wall are answered. Rabbi Rabinovitch insists that John Paul II did not wear a visible crucifix during his visit to the site, but photographs taken during that visit clearly show the Polish Pope wearing his familiar golden cross as he touched the wall, head bowed ...

It's possible that the fuss over the Pope's cross will blow over before Benedict arrives, since Rabinovitch's edict could be overruled by Israel's two chief rabbis [Yona Metzger and Shlomo Amar], who are more politically attuned to the questions of the country's international image ...

Judaic apologists for these reports are leading "goys" down a dead end, hairsplitting over the translation and etymology of the term "Cush" and whether this would directly translate to English as "nigger." This is besides the fact that a large percentage of Hebron settlers are from the U.S., speak English as their first language and have as clear an understanding of the meaning and use of the term "nigger" as any American.

Many settlers came from America, believing they were ordained by God to take back the whole of their biblical land, and if they cede ground in Hebron, then Jews could lose all of Israel. What we have here is a fine example of the dispensational, situation "ethics" aspect of Judaism at work. The Israeli "settlers" who today smear African people as "niggers" wouldn't dare use that term openly against African-Americans when they lived in Long Island, or Los Angeles. The Israeli dispensation is different than the "diaspora" U.S. dispensation. In the U.S. where Judaics are a small minority they form golems out of the many "tribes" and pit them against each other thereby strengthening their "tribe" and weakening the others. This is why in the U.S., African-Americans can often be seen with a rabbi's arm around them, kosher-approving them and empowering them, granting them nearly the same P.C. protected status that Judaics themselves enjoy.

But in Hebron, where Judaics are an empowered majority and the other tribes are already weakened and disadvantaged, the traditions and mandates of Judaism, which might otherwise cause a backlash if practiced openly where Judaics are a minority, come to the fore.

This dispensational system is clearly laid out by Moses Maimonides in the Mishneh Torah Avodat Kochavim where he mandates that Judaic doctors are forbidden from offering medical attention to dying non-Judaics, even for pay, plain and simple. But what is a Judaic doctor to do if following this crazy, racist mandate were to cause him difficulty or cause "The Jews" to be viewed negatively, say in a nation of empowered "Gentiles" where Judaics are a minority? Maimonides has accounted for this: ' ... but if you fear him or his hostility, cure him for payment, though you are forbidden to do so without payment' (cf Shahak, Jewish History, Jewish Religion) and see:

Such base tribalism, insane situation ethics and deception from these "covenant people," "eternally persecuted," "elder brothers in the faith" is unfathomable to most non-Judaics, particularly Christians. Today, the Vatican and most western authorities are complicit in perpetuating this confusion.

Not only do they serve long and tiring hours in the reserve forces, and not only are they forced to deal with violent clashes with settlers, but now, Border Guard officers of Ethiopian descent are also faced with rising racism.

"Niggers don't expel Jews! This isn't what we brought you to Israel for!" are just some of the degrading slurs Border Guard officers reported hearing from masked settlers.

During the violent clashes between Israeli forces and settlers in Hebron on Tuesday "a bunch of veiled people started yelling at us: Who are you to expel us from our home? An Ethiopian does not expel a Jew! A nigger does not expel a Jew!" one Border Guard officer of Ethiopian descent recounted.

"I just didn't know what to do with myself," he said.

Officers 'deeply offended' by remarks

And it turns out this was not the only such incident to take place. Another officer reported that while arriving to make an arrest about a week and-a-half ago, a group of youths verbally attacked him saying, "Who told you to come and evacuate us? You Ethiopians. What are you, this State's niggers? Olmert's niggers?"

The officers said they were deeply offended by these remarks, but stressed that the ones making them were settler youths coming from outside of Hebron, and not the residents of the Jewish settlement or Kiryat Arba, who have treated them with respect.

Border Guard sources reported that racist remarks were also made against Druze soldiers. "We knew that this would happen so we instructed our officers in advance," said a source.

"We harshly condemn those extremists that bring a bad name to an entire public by using racial slurs against Border Guard fighters that spend night and day protecting residents of the West Bank.

"As part of the preparations for the mission the fighters were instructed to ignore such comments and carry out their mission with the utmost professionalism."

The human rights organization B'Tselem on Monday said in a statement that more than half of the Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip in Israel Defense Forces operations in recent days did not take an active part in the fighting. This statement came after the IDF Chief of Staff issued a statement saying that 90 percent of those killed were in fact armed militants.

In their statement, B'Tselem outlined a string of incidents in which IDF allegedly killed innocent bystanders in the course of military operations aimed at battling the escalating rocket fire from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel.

According to data gathered by B'Tselem, 106 Palestinians were killed between February 27 and march 3. Fifty four of them were civilians who didn't take part in the fighting, and 25 were under 18, the statement said.

he human rights group cites as an example an incident that occurred on Thursday, in which four children were killed and two others were wounded in an Israel Air Force strike targeting rocket launchers. The children had been playing soccer in a street east of the Jabaliya refugee camp. The organization's inquiry into the incident revealed that the Qassam launcher may have been situated 100 meters from the site of the strike, and no militants were harmed in the strike.

Another incident cited by B'Tselem is the death of a brother and sister aged 16 and 17 while they were watching the violence from the window of their home east of Jabaliya. According to witnesses, the two were shot in the head and the chest.

B'Tselem expressed concern over the high number of civilians, especially children, who have been killed recently in the Gaza Strip. "Israel has a right to defend its citizens from rockets, which are in themselves a war crime, and it is what it must do," the organization wrote. "Israel must do so within the confines of the law, which must conform to the criteria of differentiation and proportionality as defined by international humanitarian law."

Who Says Judaism Isn't a Proselytizing System?

Contrary to common belief, proselytism is a very important part of Judaism. But the rabbis don't seek new converts to Judaism. Judaism is only for "The Jews." The rabbis have concocted a lower-tier religion for non-"Jews" who they hold to be of a lower-tier species than so-called "Jews".

From Rabbi Shlomo Riskin writing for the Jerusalem Post:

And Maimonides rules that only the Jews must keep the 613 commandments for ultimate "salvation"; it is enough for the gentile world to accept the Seven Noahide Laws of morality (Laws of Kings [Hilchot Melachim] 8,10).

But we certainly must proselytize every human being to keep those seven laws - do not worship an idol, do not misuse God's Name, do not murder, do not commit licentious sexual acts, do not steal, respect all creatures, and create a judicial system to enforce the first six laws. Rabbi Riskin fails to mention how Maimonides provided for the distinctness of the two-tiered Judaic system of law to be enforced:

A gentile who studies Torah is liable to the death penalty. They should be involved in the study of their Seven Mitzvot ["Noahide Laws"] only. (Moses Maimonides, Hilchot Melachim 10:9, Moznaim Publishing edition)

And so you see, rabbinic Judaism compels Judaic people to seek proselytes not to their own religion, but to a lower-tier system which the rabbis fabricted for non-"Jews:" the so-called "Noahide Laws." It is worth mentioning, however, that cajoling proselytism to the "Noahide Laws" would turn to convert-or-die compulsion where Judaic rule is open and fully consolidated.

In 2004 JPII misrepresented his elder brother Maimonides and his murderous system of "proselytizing," praising Maimonides as a figure of benevolence, and rejoicing in his vision of the Judaic Messianic age, which Maimonides wrote would be a time when all Christians would either give up their fundamental beliefs and accept the talmudic "Noahide Laws" or be executed. Clearly the Jews are equally a target of New Age planners along with Christians -- Catholic and Protestant, and even Moslems. A key strategy is to pit target groups off against each other. One only has to read the Alice Bailey books to see that Jews are the most despised of all the New Age targets. I have made clear links between the Historical Revisionist Movement and the New Age Movement, between Eustace Mullins, Ezra Pound etc and the New Age Movement. The New Agers label the "rainbow" as "antahkarana" or "rainbow bridge between the personality and oversoul.

I do not know you, but your site looks disturbingly like anti-Jewish propaganda to me. Please do not imply that I endorse such. I do not.

In response I should say that I have not implied that Constance Cumbey endorses anti-"Jewish" propaganda. Neither have I written anything about Ezra Pound or Eustace Mullins, which begs the question, what do these things have to do with what I have written? This wouldn't be an attempt to imply an endorsement of Pound, Mullins and New Ageism from me, would it? Perhaps Mrs. Cumbey will extend me the same courtesy which she asks for herself.

I will make clear that I do see virtue in the practice of historical revisionism in it's best form, which is the reassessment of historical people, places and events in light of new evidence. I fail to see how any person who honors truth could be opposed to this concept. To reject it would be to allow propaganda and errors which often become part of the established historical record to remain set in stone. If Cumbey is opposed to historical revisionism, that's her right, but to imply that historical revisionism is directly connected with the New Age movement is disingenuous at best, and to those who know better, it's rather a joke.

I should add, since Cumbey has brought it up, that I find Ezra Pound's poem "With Usura" to contain insight which today's "Christians" should aspire to, but that's hardly an endorsement of Pound's Gnostic tendencies or affiliations; W. B. Yeats and the Golden Dawn, for instance.

I must say I don't enjoy writing this response. I found Mrs. Cumbey's book, The Hidden Dangers of the Rainbow to be informative when it was first published in the early 80's. I had no idea what direction Mrs. Cumbey's research had taken since that book was published. Surely, she could be forgiven for not making the connection between the rainbow and the Noahide movement of Judaism (which predates Alice Bailey by millenia) 25 years ago when reliable information on the occult and Judaism was more difficult to come by. But that's not so much the case today.

Since Mrs. Cumbey has written a response to my blog posting on the Noahide movement and it's symbol, the rainbow, I must assume that she has read it, but in her response she has studiously ignored the content of that posting including the quotes from the Talmud, Mishneh Torah, the Encyclopaedia Judaica, a joint Rabbinic Council-Pontifical Commission document, U.S. laws and presidential proclamations, news articles and video clips cited, choosing instead to imply that it's all just "anti-'Jewish' propaganda" and expressing concern that she may be associated with it. Fear not, Mrs. Cumbey. It's clear to me now that you have no fellowship with the kind of research conducted here, and I wouldn't think of associating your work with it.

I do hope that you will give the matter further consideration, however, lest the true hidden danger of the rainbow remain hidden to your readers.

P.S. I do realize that there are anti-"semitic" elements within occult movements, Mrs. Cumbey. Anti-"semitism" is a very important tool of the rabbis and Zionists. Consider this: is it likely that the world would have extended the Zionists a blank check to build a "Jewish" state called "Israel" on someone else's land--to kill and drive off the land's occupants--if the Nazi persecutions had not taken place beforehand? I highly doubt it. Many have called Hitler the true founding father of the "Jewish" state and as ironic as it may seem on the surface, I find no fault in that statement. This apparently ironic, but quite logical dialectic is clear to see in the thinking of one of the founders of modern Zionism, Theodore Herzl:

It is essential that the sufferings of Jews ... become worse ... this will assist in realization of our plans ... I have an excellent idea ... I shall induce anti-semites to liquidate Jewish wealth ... The anti-semites will assist us thereby in that they will strengthen the persecution and oppression of Jews. The anti-semites shall be our best friends. (Diaries of Theodore Herzl, Part I, p. 16)

Rabbi E. Schwartz further clarified:

"To achieve their goal of statehood the Zionists have always deliberately provoked anti-Semitism ... Their interest was not to save Jews, on the contrary, more spilling of Jewish blood would strengthen their demand of the nations for the creation of their state." (New York Times, May 18, 1993)

Whatever anti-"semitism" that exists in occult movements of the West, whether real or mocked, most often serves the purposes of the Zionist movement. The Nazi movement is the strongest case in point. Most Western occult movements (Masonry in particular, with it's fixation on the rebuilding of Solomon's Temple in Jerusalem) are Zionist at the core.

And it is plain to see that occultists pair target groups off against each other, as you say. One only need observe how Skull and Bones member, George W. Bush and his Zionist handlers have pitted "Judeo-Christians" against Muslims in a misnamed "war on terror" which is in reality a war on Amalak, the eternal enemy of the rabbis, and a war for Israeli dominion in the Middle East.

I hope that you will consider your own point more deeply. As the traditions, cultures and religions of the world--mostly Christendom--are broken down, the tradition of Judaism is being simultaneously built up. As sovereign nations around the world are being slowly dissolved into large unions, a "Jewish" nation is simultaneously being unnaturally propped up at astronomical expense to outside sources from where the required resources are extracted. The Christian nations that are having their soveriegnty and religion robbed from them are forced to finance the building of a "Jewish" state. If the New Age movement is the true force behind the deChristianization of the West, the fruit of it's labor certainly seems to benefit the "Jewish" state. How could this possibly take place if the "all-powerful" New Age movement were truly against it?

Anti-"Jewish" quotes from Alice Bailey are interesting at most to me, Mrs. Cumbey. I am a Christian, and Jesus Christ said that it's by their fruits that you will know them, not by their rhetoric.

It reveals that, to the Orthodox mind, the sole justification for Judaics to adopt a benevolent posture toward the goyim is that such a stance tilts Judaic-goyim relations in favor of Judaic interests, under certain circumstances.

Perhaps it's a classic modified limited hangout, the piece's narrative authority rests on the insider membership, twice over, of its author, the Orthodox prep-school formed, CFR senior fellow and Harvard Law School professor, Noah Feldman. Our conditioned response will be the misrecognition which holds that the only people who would challenge what Feldman tells us are the hateful and stupid.

Given all that is revealed, what is limited about this?

The piece keeps the Unique Goyim Evil theory alive. Nothing in Feldman's article attacks the "bad goyim made us poor Jews this way" account. Because he does not address this, everything unappealing that he reveals about Orthodox folkways can be blamed on the goyim.

Since the birth of modern Orthodox Judaism in 19th-century Germany, a central goal of the movement has been to normalize the observance of traditional Jewish law — to make it possible to follow all 613 biblical commandments assiduously while still participating in the reality of the modern world. You must strive to be, as a poet of the time put it, “a Jew in the home and a man in the street.” Even as we students of the Maimonides School spent half of every school day immersed in what was unabashedly a medieval curriculum, our aim was to seem to outsiders — and to ourselves — like reasonable, mainstream people, not fanatics or cult members.

This ambition is best exemplified today by Senator Joe Lieberman. His run for the vice presidency in 2000 put the “modern” in modern Orthodox, demonstrating that an Orthodox Jewish candidate could be accepted by America at large as essentially a regular guy ...

One time at Maimonides a local physician — a well-known figure in the community who later died tragically young — addressed a school assembly on the topic of the challenges that a modern Orthodox professional may face. The doctor addressed the Talmudic dictum that the saving of a life trumps the Sabbath. He explained that in its purest form, this principle applies only to the life of a Jew. The rabbis of the Talmud, however, were unprepared to allow the life of a non-Jew to be extinguished because of the no-work commandment, and so they ruled that the Sabbath could be violated to save the life of a non-Jew out of concern for maintaining peaceful relations between the Jewish and non-Jewish communities.

Depending on how you look at it, this ruling is either an example of outrageously particularist religious thinking, because in principle it values Jewish life more than non-Jewish life, or an instance of laudable universalism, because in practice it treats all lives equally. The physician quite reasonably opted for the latter explanation. And he added that he himself would never distinguish Jewish from non-Jewish patients: a human being was a human being.

This appealing sentiment did not go unchallenged. One of my teachers rose to suggest that the doctor’s attitude was putting him in danger of violating the Torah. The teacher reported that he had himself heard from his own rabbi, a leading modern-Orthodox Talmudist associated with Yeshiva University, that in violating the Sabbath to treat a non-Jew, intention was absolutely crucial. If you intended to save the patient’s life so as to facilitate good relations between Jews and non-Jews, your actions were permissible. But if, to the contrary, you intended to save the patient out of universal morality, then you were in fact guilty of violating the Sabbath, because the motive for acting was not the motive on the basis of which the rabbis allowed the Sabbath violation to occur.

Later, in class, the teacher apologized to us students for what he said to the doctor. His comments, he said, were inappropriate — not because they were wrongheaded, but because non-Jews were present in the audience when he made them. The double standard of Jews and non-Jews, in other words, was for him truly irreducible: it was not just about noting that only Jewish lives merited violation of the Sabbath, but also about keeping the secret of why non-Jewish lives might be saved ... Israel plans attack on Gaza

ISRAEL's new defence minister Ehud Barak is planning an attack on Gaza within weeks to crush the Hamas militants who have seized power there.

According to senior Israeli military sources, the plan calls for 20,000 troops to destroy much of Hamas's military capability in days.

The raid would be triggered by Hamas rocket attacks against Israel or a resumption of suicide bombings.

Barak, who is expected to become defence minister tomorrow, has already demanded detailed plans to deploy two armoured divisions and an infantry division, accompanied by assault drones and F-16 jets, against Hamas.

"Elliot Abrams' uncivil war"

US Deputy National Security Adviser Elliott Abrams - whom Newsweek recently described as "the last neo-con standing" - has had it about for some months now that the United States is not only not interested in dealing with Hamas, it is working to ensure its failure.

In the immediate aftermath of the Palestinian elections won by Hamas last January, Abrams greeted a group of Palestinian businessmen in his White House office with talk of a "hard coup" against the newly elected Hamas government - the violent overthrow of its leadership with arms supplied by the US.

While the businessmen were shocked, Abrams was adamant - the US had to support Fatah with guns, ammunition and training, so that it could fight Hamas for control of the Palestinian government.

Washington's involvement in the turbulent events that briefly removed left-wing leader Hugo Chavez from power last weekend resurrects fears about US ambitions in the hemisphere.

It also also deepens doubts about policy in the region being made by appointees to the Bush administration, all of whom owe their careers to serving in the dirty wars under President Reagan.

One of them, Elliot Abrams, who gave a nod to the attempted Venezuelan coup, has a conviction for misleading Congress over the infamous Iran-Contra affair.

At approximately 12:00 on Friday, 1 June 2007, an IOF infantry unit positioned on a wooden land in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, nearly 100 meters away from the beach, opened fire at four Palestinian children, who were playing with kites near the beach. Three children were wounded, whereas the fourth one was able to escape. Two of the children were left in the area bleeding to death. According to the third child who was wounded, 16-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim al-'Atawna, from Jabalya refugee camp, a kite fell near the area where IOF soldiers were hiding, and when they went to bring it, IOF soldiers opened fire at them. Soon after, the soldiers moved towards the children. They asked al-'Atwana, who was wounded by a gunshot to the back, about the condition of the other two children who were wounded by several gunshots throughout their bodies. He told them that the children were in a critical condition. They left the two children bleeding to death in the area and evacuated al-'Atawna to an Israeli hospital, where he had received medical treatment before he was transferred to a hospital in Beit Lahia. The two children who were killed were identified as:

1) Zaher Jaber Mohammed al-Majdalawi, 14; and

Goodbye Aquinas and Just War Theory, Hello Maimonides and Law of the Jungle

Israeli, US intellectuals chart new rules of war for insurgencies

Last summer, at the height of the Second Lebanon War, two intellectuals specializing in security affairs met for a conversation. For the Israeli of the pair, the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya's Boaz Ganor, it was an opportunity to vent his frustration.

"We talked about the frustration we had over how the world was relating to the war, mainly the claim that Israel wasn't responding with 'proportionality,'" Ganor told The Jerusalem Post this week.

... "We decided we had to establish an international team" - experts have been consulted from Canada, Australia and elsewhere - "that will relate to Hague and Geneva, which are very good, but will try to fine tune them for the new situation," Ganor said.

With monthly video-conference calls between Israel and Syracuse, New York, the team has begun to lay the groundwork for the document they hope to present in Washington D.C. in October - the 100th anniversary of the Hague Convention.

... "The primary goal is to protect civilians," Ganor said emphatically. "That's the sacred principle behind this.

Its implications are far from simple. As Ganor explains: "Take the mista'arvim [the IDF infiltration units that dress as Arabs and enter Arab towns to conduct operations] for example. On the face of it, it's a clear breach of the Geneva Conventions, which demand clear separation between fighting forces and civilians, with 'a badge and a flag.' On the other hand, it's by far the most selective and safe means of arresting or even assassinating someone ..."

The Cardinal Bea Centre for Judaic Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome

What is characterized by some as "'antisemitic' conspiracy theory" when it's written about at this blog is called "interfaith dialog" when it takes place between Cardinals and rabbis in Rome.

The Sephardic front is authoritatively represented by Maimonides, who ... [treats] all Christians as “idolaters” tout-court. Next to this negative vision of Christian theology, Maimonides does however give a more open and moderate assessment of the Messianic role of Christianity and Islam in the world. Here is for instance a passage of the Treatise on Kings, which does not appear in all editions (of the Mishneh Torah), because in most of them it is censored: “... all the words of Jesus of Nazareth and of the son of Ishmael [Mohammed] who came after him are aimed at paving the way to the King-Messiah and at preparing the whole world to serve God together, as it is written: ‘because I shall then transform the language of the peoples into a pure language, so that all shall invoke the Name of the Lord shall serve him in a sole unit [all together, in harmony]’ (Sof. 3,9)”. ...Maimonides lets Christianity and Islam, so to speak, do a “qualitative leap”: he includes the two religions within a sole providential plan that sees them as protagonists of a preparatory itinerary of humanity as a whole towards the [Judaic] Messianic event.

Maimonides’ ambivalent opinion – negatively on the theological level, but positively open in its Messianic perspective – appears to be the clearest and most straightforward affirmation of the involvement of Christianity in a providential role of a Messianic-providential type. He is put to death on the basis of testimony and a decision given by a man but not on the basis of testimony and a decision given by a woman, and the man who testified or decided against him can even be a relative.

A Jew can only be put to death by a court of twenty-three judges, and on the basis of the testimony of two male witnesses who are not disqualified from testifying on account of kinship, and after being properly warned against committing the transgression. This is cajolery for gullible Noahides at best and likely an inside joke between rabbis, or perhaps a revelation of the method stunt. "We commemorate Maimonides death"? I certainly do not. The rabbis commemorate Maimonides death. He's their "great sage," not mine.

There is nothing anywhere in Maimonides' writing which gives even the faintest indication that he "hoped for better relations between Christians and Jews" for any reason. Quite the contrary. Maimonides believed Christians to be idolaters and called for their execution.

So we see that what JPII has quoted is actually Maimonides' statement on the Judaic messianic age which is the definitive, halachic, Judaic view on the topic. It is the warmongering, Gentile smashing, Zionist, Judaic King Messiah that Maimonides stated, "will mend the entire world to worship the Lord together." JPII completely misrepresented the text. I wonder why. Could it be due to the 2000 year old Christian tradition that the Judaic "Messiah" would be the Antichrist spoken of in the New Testament Book of Apocalypse?

Maimonides also states in Hilchot Melachim that Jesus Christ is not the Messiah because He's dead. He then goes on to opine that Christianity and Islam are good only so far as they help to usher in the Judaic King Messiah and the messianic age to come when Christian "idolaters" would be forced to abandon their religion and accept the Noahide laws* or be punished by decapitation.

This is all clearly laid out by Maimonides in Hilchot Melachim which JPII references as support for his message of fostering better relations between Christians and Jews?

The rabbis whom JPII addresses here know his interpretation of Maimonides is nonsense, so what is the point of JPII's statement? Is it a joke between rabbis? Is it a signal to adepts that the Vatican now serves as a means of Noahide conversion and ushering in the Judaic messianic age as Maimonides states in the Mishneh Torah which JPII quoted?
Occultists usually leave themselves a way out when they pull an audacious stunt such as this one, but in this case I see no alternative explanation.
