This advocacy journalism casts a blind eye to Adin Steinsaltz's membership with Chabad Lubavitch and his promotion of Chabad's master-race metaphysics HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE, nor does it mention his former role as Nasi (head) of the reestablished Sanhedrin in Jerusalem or this Sanhedrin's desire to bring all nations under its racist, two-tiered legal system. Financial economists may find Meir Tamari’s treatment of interest and profits rather unsatisfactory, and his treatment of Scripture and the Mishnah may also be seen as controversial. One interesting point is the distinction between financial dealings between Jews, where interest is not permissible, and between Jews and Gentiles where it is, the justification for this being in Deutronomy. Maimonides interpreted the Hebrew word tashikh, you may charge a foreigner interest, as you shall charge a gentile interest. It was this that justified Jews becoming involved in moneylending throughout medieval Europe and instrumental in the development of modern banking practice. While relations between Jews and Christians were kept on a business footing, those within the Jewish communities were based on exchanging favours and mutual trust in the absence of interest based transactions. This discriminatory treatment of Jews and Gentiles may be criticised by non-Jews, but it served to strengthen bonds within Judaism and the feeling of a common identity. Joint Statement

1. The Jewish co-chair Rabbi Shear Yashuv Cohen opened the meeting, giving thanks to God for the historic transformation in Catholic-Jewish relations since the Second Vatican Council (1962-65) and for the establishment of the bilateral commission of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel and the Holy See, after the historic visit of Pope John Paul II to Israel.

Cardinal Peter Turkson, the new Catholic co-chair, responded paying tribute to his predecessor Cardinal Jorge Mejía and welcomed the delegations, in particular those who had just joined the bilateral commission. Cardinal Mejía together with Cardinal Cottier, as the former senior members of the Catholic delegation, accompanied by Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Holy See’s Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews, visited with the delegations and expressed their joy at the continuity of this work as a blessing for both communities and for humanity.

2. The theme of this the 11^th meeting of the bilateral commission was titled "Religious perspectives on the current financial crisis: vision for a just economic order". The special guest on the first evening was Prof. Ettore Gotti Tedeschi, President of the Vatican’s Istituto per le Opere di Religione, who provided an analysis of the causes of the financial crisis and shared thoughts on possible ways forward. Papers on the theme were provided by Dr. Meir Tamari, former chief economist of the Bank of Israel, and Prof. Stefano Zamagni from the Economic Science Department of the University of Bologna.

3. Following from the presentations and discussion, the following points were highlighted:-

While many factors contributed to the financial crisis, at its roots lies a crisis of moral values in which the importance of having, reflected in a culture of greed, eclipsed the importance of being; and where the value of truth reflected in honesty and transparency was sorely lacking in economic activity.

4. At the heart of Jewish and Catholic visions for a just economic order is the affirmation of the sovereignity and providence of the Creator of the world with whom all wealth originates and which is given to humankind as a gift for the common good.

5. Accordingly, the purpose of an economic order is to serve the wellbeing of society, affirming the human dignity of all people, each created in the Divine Image. While this concept of dignity affirms the value of the person, it is antithetical to egocentricity. Rather, it requires the promotion of the wellbeing of the individual in relation to community and society, emphasizing human obligations and responsibilities accordingly and thereby affirming human solidarity and fraternity.

This posits the obligation to guarantee certain basic human needs, such as the protection of life, sustenance, clothing, housing, health, education and employment.

Particular attention must therefore be given to the vulnerable – the poor, the orphan, the widow the sick and disabled; and the stranger, which in today’s society is particularly relevant to migrant and foreign workers – whose condition serves as a measure of the moral health of society or lack thereof, and the degree of solidarity within it.

6. Furthermore, just as the Divine gift of wealth places obligations upon the recipient in relation to those less fortunate materially; similarly countries with developed economies have the obligation to recognize their responsibilities and duties towards countries and societies in need – especially in this era of globalization.

7. Concepts highlighted for the promotion of a more just economic order included:

- the universal destination of the goods of the earth; a culture of "enough" that implies a degree of self-limitation and modesty; responsible stewardship; an ethical system of allocation of resources and priorities; and the critical importance of honesty, transparency, gratuitousness and accountability.

8. Just as the crisis has required partial remission of debts on national and international levels, there is a need to extend this to families and individuals for their economic self-rehabilitation.

9. The members of the bilateral commission underscored the role that the faith communities must play in contributing to a responsible economic order and the importance of their engagement by government, educational institutions, and the media, to this end.

10. In addition to the ethical wisdom drawn from our spiritual heritages, religious communities are an integral part of civil society, which must play a central role together with politics and business, in ensuring the subsidiarity necessary for a just social and economic order.

11. Furthermore the crisis has revealed the profound lack of the ethical component in economic thinking. Hence, it is imperative that institutes and academies of economic studies and policy formation include ethical training in their curricula, similar to that which has developed in recent years in the field of medical ethics; and also ethical counselling to decision makers on a national and international level.

12. The meeting concluded with prayer to the Source of all blessing that the words of the Psalmist will be fulfilled

"Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed (each other).
Truth shall spring out of the earth and righteousness shall look down from heaven.
Yea, the Lord shall give (that which is) good; and our land shall yield her increase.
Righteousness shall go before Him; and shall set (us) in the way of His steps"

(Ps 85,11-14).

Ormond Beach man who drank at Jewish gathering dies in parking lot

ORMOND BEACH -- A man who was drinking at a Jewish holiday party was found dead in the parking lot of the center where members left him to sleep, police said Wednesday.

Jesse Allen, 28, who moved to Ormond Beach from Meadville, Pa., in November, was found dead Friday morning by the rabbi of the synagogue, a police report shows.

"It was a death that is apparently related to a possible alcohol poisoning," said Ormond Beach police Lt. Kenny Hayes. "There is nothing suspicious about the death."

An autopsy was completed Tuesday, but police are awaiting toxicology test results to determine what killed Allen, Hayes said.

Allen was at a party at the Chabad Lubavitch of Greater Daytona at 1079 W. Granada Blvd., the night before he was found dead, Hayes said.

Rabbi Pinchas Ezagui, 46, said in a telephone interview that at least 100 people were celebrating Purim, a Jewish holiday in which people dress up in costumes.

"It was a very joyous party, a party for family and children," Ezagui said.

Purim is a festive Jewish holiday recounting the deliverance of the Jewish people from an extermination plot by Haman, as recounted in the Bible's Book of Esther. Along with a festive meal, heavy drinking used to be part of the tradition, though that is officially discouraged now, according to the website meirpanim.org ["officially" heavy drinking is said to be discouraged in P.R. material directed towards the public, but this is not so in actual practice].

Ezagui said alcohol was not served at Thursday's party, though some families brought alcoholic beverages with them.

"We don't serve it, but there is a bottle here and a bottle there," Ezagui said.

The rabbi told police he saw Allen come into the building for the party about 8 p.m. Thursday.

Later, Ezagui saw Allen was intoxicated to the point that he had urinated in his pants, the report states.

A member of the Jewish group, Igor Nikomarov, 24, escorted Allen out of the center. Nikomarov left Allen on the grass to sleep his drunkenness off, police said. Nikomarov did not return a reporter's call seeking comment Wednesday.

"It is a very unfortunate situation," Ezagui said. "We don't know the guy. He is not of the Jewish faith."

Allen's mother, Lynn Allen, said her son loved Jewish tradition and in an email he told her he was excited to go the Purim.

She said her son loved to play drums and guitar and "sang like an angel and composed praise songs." She will always remember her son as a giving and helpful person. Just before he left Pennsylvania, Jesse Allen gave his bicycle, his only means of transportation, to an Afghanistan veteran who had been on three tours in the war, his mother said.

Lynn Allen said her son was working on overcoming a problem with alcohol and she thought he had stopped drinking recently. She was struggling to understand why her son was left on the grass after the party.

"It's not the rabbi's fault that my son drank," Lynn Allen said. "But as a community we look after each other and in Pennsylvania we are struggling to understand why they left him there."

Lord Jonathan Sacks, Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregation of the Commonwealth, met with Pope Benedict on Monday to discuss interfaith relations and their common concern for the decline of spiritual values within European culture.
Rabbi Sacks, who has been spiritual leader of the mainstream Orthodox Jewish communities in the UK, Australia and Hong Kong since 1991, said faith, in the modern world, has no political power but it does have a great deal of influence - especially among those who question the kind of value system they want for their children. Asked about a rise in anti-Semitism in Europe, the Rabbi stressed that Jews cannot fight anti-semitism alone, "the victim cannot cure the crime, the hated cannot cure the hate." He said he will fight for the right of Christians anywhere in the world to live their faith without fear, "but I need them to fight for the right of my people to live their faith without fear."

Asked if the current political stalemate in between Israelis and Palestinians could be behind this resurgent anti-Semitism, Sachs said "we must not allow ourselves to import a message of conflict from the Middle East to Europe.

This afternoon, September 23, 2011, alternative media host Alex Jones provided an open platform for Orthodox Rabbi Dovid Bendory. "Gun Rabbi" Rabbi Dovid Bendory wears many hats, among them, Vice President at Goldman Sachs. This important detail wasn't mentioned to Alex Jones' listeners because many of them are clued into the Goldman Sachs pirate organization and its role in the world financial collapse.

Rabbi Bendory's byline for an article of his published by the Journal of Talmudic Law and Finance credits him as, "Vice President of Risk Management Technology at Goldman Sachs in New York City where he has worked for the past 15 years." At Onesource his title is given as, "Vice President Pwmgt Information Technology Group of Goldman Sachs Execution & Clearing." At the website of his Talmudic Pidyon organization in his autobiography he lists his day job as, "financial strategist at a bank in New York." At another of his Pidyon websites he lists his occupation as, "financial strategist at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York." At the website of the Rabbinical Council of America of which Rabbi Bendory is a member, his occupation is given as, "Software Engineer at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in New York."

It would be interesting to know if Rabbi Bendory, apparently a software engineer, is involved with the software that Goldman Sachs uses in its "front-running" market-cheating mechanism. The Execution and Clearing division of Goldman Sachs, where Rabbi Bendory apparently works, is where this illegal, predatory software-based scam takes place. Whatever the case, it is evident that Rabbi Dovid Bendory works with one of the most exploitative, predatory financial institutions in the history of the world, Goldman Sachs, and is profiting from its savaging of the world economy. Alex Jones' listeners should be made aware of this; they should know that this deceiver masquerading as a patriot "Gun Rabbi" is really The Wall Street Rabbi (he teaches Talmudic Law (halacha) at the Wall Street Synagogue daily). Rabbi Bendory's "Gun Rabbi" website, which is obviously intended to draw a largely non-Judaic, truth-seeking, right-wing, libertarian  audience, doesn't mention anything about Goldman Sachs or Wall Street for obvious reasons.

The interview Alex Jones gave this Rabbi-Banker, Dovid Bendory can be downloaded HERE and begins at around 10 minutes 15 seconds. The pretense of the interview is that "Gun Rabbi" Bendory is a great advocate of 2nd Ammendment rights but the interview quickly becomes a showcase for Rabbi Bendory's Talmudism and Zionism. Alex Jones even goes along with Rabbi Bendory's ruse of support for blacks, even as he approvingly cites the anti-black racist (and anti-Christian, anti-"Goy"), Rabbi Moses Maimonides (allegedly and strangely) in support of the 2nd amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Jones invited this predatory banker-rabbi to return to his show for a full hour at a later date. Why is Alex Jones giving this racial-supremacist Orthodox Rabbi and predatory banker a platform to ingratiate himself with his largely non-Judaic audience for his  Judeo-supremacist purposes?

This is yet another case of rabbinic masquerading and deceit and infiltration of the right wing for the purpose of redirecting people of Christian European background into the Zionist, Rabbinic camp. Talmud Study now Mandatory in South Korea

I recall hearing reports of this in 2005 from a person teaching English to schoolchildren in South Korea. This person also said that The Diary of Anne Frank is required reading in South Korean schools. The evangelists of double-standard 'Noahidism' in the East are primarily Chabad.

I suspect that much of this is based in awe and suspicious beliefs about Judaic power and wealth. Having nearly non-existant Judaic populations and little practical experience to base an informed opinion on, these people aren't learning real Talmud any more than 'Madonna' is. They're learning the P.R. version of Talmud intended for 'Noahide' consumption. The Palestinian people have much practical experience with actualized 'wisdom of the Talmud.'

As I understand, Judaism and Zionism are not as highly regarded in Japan.

Jesus Christ vehemently opposed these traditions of the rabbis which make God's word of no effect, but today this hard fact is brushed aside with such fluffy slogans as, “Jesus was Jewish, and we appreciate his culture, where he came from.” In reality, the people who sign these ketubot form a covenant not with God but with the rabbis in their millenia-old struggle to overthrow God and His word and to put themselves in God's place and replace His word with Talmud, Kabbalah and the 'Noahide laws' of Babylon:

We must conclude, therefore, that the writ in general and the marriage writ in particular are not original Jewish institutions. Originally they belong to Babylonia, mother of commerce and commercial deeds in antiquity. Jewish contact was necessary to introduce the writ in Judea. This contact came about in a political and commercial way during the last century of the first Commonwealth, and with it came the adoption of the ketubah, among other writs, by the Jews. Christians Embrace a Jewish Wedding Tradition

In a San Antonio chapel last August, after reciting their wedding vows and exchanging their rings, Sally and Mark Austin prepared to receive communion for the first time as husband and wife. Just before they did, their minister asked them to sign a document. It was a ketubah, a traditional Jewish marriage contract.

The Austins’ was not an interfaith marriage. Nor was their ceremony some sort of multicultural mashup. Both Sally and Mark are evangelical Christians, members of Oak Hills Church, a nationally known megachurch. They were using the ketubah as a way of affirming the Jewish roots of their faith.

In so doing, the Austins are part of a growing phenomenon of non-Jews incorporating the ketubah, a document with millennia-old origins and a rich artistic history, into their weddings. Mrs. Austin, in fact, first learned about the ketubah from her older sister, also an evangelical Christian, who had been married five years earlier with not only a ketubah but the Judaic wedding canopy, the huppah.

“Embracing this Jewish tradition just brings a richness that we miss out on sometimes as Christians when we don’t know the history,” said Mrs. Austin, 29, a business manager for AT&T. “Jesus was Jewish, and we appreciate his culture, where he came from.”

Beyond its specific basis in Judaism, the ketubah represented to the Austins a broader concept of holiness, of consecration. “We wanted a permanent reminder of the covenant we made with God,” Mrs. Austin said. “We see this document superseding the marriage license of a state or a court.”

Another Vatican II Peritus Confirmed to be Estranged from the Gospel

From Cardinal Biffi comes testimony of a speech prepared by Vatican II peritus, Fr. Giuseppi Dossetti containing plain dual-covenant theology.

A few comments: Cardinal Biffi's assessment of a grave distortion of the Gospel at the most fundamental level is exceedingly mild.

The "contemporary German author" Cardinal Biffi has in mind is likely Jürgen Moltmann, although, it could be any given German Cardinal or Bishop, or a certain German Pope who is in the habit of reckless statements and acts that betray an ambivalence towards the Gospel at best.

This is useful information but in the big picture it seems to be a limited hang-out for English speakers. Could Cardinal Biffi be unaware of his neighbor, Cardinal Carlo Maria Martini's, L'assurdo di Auschwitz e il Mistero della Croce and many other such works? Could he be unaware that one of John Paul II's first papal acts was to offer a Mass at Auschwitz and proclaim, "I kneel at this Golgotha of the modern world"? Does this not at least represent a grave alteration of Christology fatally compromising the whole perspective of "sacred doctrine"? Dual-covenant ("Noahide") theology and the Calvary-relativising theology of Auschwitz are tightly intertwined within the contemporary German school of philosophy/theology that Biffi makes reference to which John Paul II and Benedict XVI were certainly influenced by.

That such violence to the Gospel could be excused as a concession to "Jewish-Christian dialogue" only demonstrates the problem inherent to that "dialogue."

... AN UNPRESENTABLE CHRISTOLOGY


At the end of October 1991, [Vatican II peritus, Fr. Giuseppi] Dossetti graciously brought me the speech I had commissioned from him for the centenary of Lercaro's birth. "Examine it, change it, add, remove freely," he told me. He was certainly sincere: at that moment, the man of God and faithful priest was speaking.

Unfortunately, I found something that wasn't right. And it was the idea, presented favorably by Dossetti, that just as Jesus is the Savior of the Christians, so also the Torah, the Mosaic law, is also currently the path of salvation for the Jews. The assertion was shared by a contemporary German author, and was probably favored by Dossetti because he saw its usefulness for Jewish-Christian dialogue.

But with chief responsibility for orthodoxy in my Church, I could never have accepted putting into doubt the revealed truth that Jesus Christ is the only Savior of all. [...]

"Fr. Giuseppe," I said to him, "haven't you ever read the pages of Saint Paul, and the narration of the Acts of the Apostles? Doesn't it seem to you that in the first Christian community, the problem was exactly the opposite? In those days, it was accepted peacefully and without a doubt that Jesus was the Redeemer of the Jews; if anything, what was discussed was whether the gentiles could also be fully reached by his salvific action."

Besides, it should be enough – I thought to myself – not to forget a little phrase from the letter to the Romans, where it says that the Gospel of Christ "is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: for Jew first, and then Greek" (cf. Rm. 1:16).

Dossetti was not in the habit of renouncing any of his convictions. Here in the end he gave in when I warned him that, if necessary, I would interrupt and publicly contradict him; and he acquiesced to say only this: "It does not seem consistent with the thinking of Saint Paul to say that the way of salvation for Christians is Christ, and for Jews is the Mosaic Law." There was no longer anything erroneous in this statement, and I did not raise any objections, even if I would have preferred that there had not even been a reference to such an aberrant theological opinion.

This "incident" made me reflect a great deal, and I immediately judged it to be of extreme gravity, although I did not speak of it with anyone at the time. Any alteration of Christology fatally compromises the whole perspective of "sacred doctrine." In a man of faith and of sincere religious life like Fr. Dossetti, it was plausible that the misstep was the result of a mistaken and inexact general methodological approach ... ("Cardinal Biffi Breaks Another Taboo. The executive director of the Adirondack Jewish Center Inc. envisions Watertown's Masonic Temple as a cultural resource for the entire community.

Yaakov M. Getz, who has a doctorate in psychology, and his wife, Golda Y., both observant Jews, started the Adirondack Jewish Center in 2003. They opened a location in J.B. Wise Place in December 2004 and stayed a few years until the building changed ownership.

"We want it very much to be a community-oriented facility," said Mr. Getz, who has rabbinical training and functions as a rabbi in kosher food certification and the center's classes.

Last week, a state Supreme Court judge approved the sale of the downtown landmark by the Masonic Hall Association of Watertown to the center for $128,500. The purchase will transfer the property from one nonprofit group to another. The association has been trying to sell the neoclassical hall at 242 Washington St. since November 2003, with an initial asking price of $499,000.

Mr. Getz said he was first interested in the building several years ago.

"It is a magnificent building," he said. "I fell in love with it immediately."

The center is working toward a contract with an engineering firm. The first goal is to stabilize the exterior as quickly as possible. Mr. Getz expects the building costs to total over $1 million. The work would be supported through fundraising and any grants and economic development agency funding the center could qualify for, he said.

Like the first center, the Masonic Temple will house a community center and place of worship. But it likely also will host art exhibits, speakers, concerts and community events, Mr. Getz said. And the center will have a program of certifying products from local businesses as kosher.

"The emphasis will be on small businesses — getting them started in certification for a modest cost," he said. "We can act as a support and guidance for them, introducing them to potential customers and distributors. We can act like a matchmaker and open up opportunities for marketing their products."

Mr. Getz said that program will encourage sales and job growth for local businesses, draw more observant Jews to the area and offer some support for the center's programs.

The Getzes have spent most of the last 20 years in the north country. Mr. Getz certifies as kosher dairy products from about 15 sources.

"The religious programming is a relatively small portion of what we do," he said. "We will focus more on the community and development issues and get that rolling."

The nonprofit center is starting a newsletter to connect Jews from Watertown to Plattsburgh, Mr. Getz said.

"One of our goals is to revitalize Jewish life in the north country," he said.

Since the center's last location closed, it has hosted educational classes on Noahide Laws, the seven basic moral imperatives for all mankind given to Noah, according to the Talmud.

The Getzes have volunteered as chaplains at Samaritan Medical Center and in the state prison system.

They also want to restart a children's day camp and host programs for military service members through Fort Drum. The Getzes already host holiday meals and other events for soldiers.

"Jewish service members, as a group, are quite small and extraordinarily isolated," Mr. Getz said. "We try to provide a home away from home."

I get the logic. In a town like L.A. it can be very easy to forget how victimized 'The Jews' are.

I wonder, are the children of Mexican dishwashers as susceptible to baseless, forced guilt as the descendants of WWII canon fodder? I hope not, because ending this lunacy may depend upon them.

Holocaust museum opens in L.A.

LOS ANGELES (JTA) -- A $19 million Holocaust museum opened in a popular recreational area in Los Angeles.

Civic dignitaries and Holocaust survivors were on hand Oct. 14 for the official opening of The Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust in Pan Pacific Park, near the old Jewish Fairfax district.

Admission will be free, said the museum's board president, E. Randol Schoenberg. Among the visitors each year will be an estimated 40,000 to 50,000 high school students taking state-mandated Holocaust instruction.

Shimon Peres, Pope Continue 17 Year Dialogue on Church Properties

Note the patience and care that goes into Vatican-'Israel' dialogue regarding Church properties in contrast to the 'dialogue' by which Church teaching is circumvented and overthrown.

AsiaNews (Tel Aviv) - On Thursday, the President of the State of Israel, will be received in Audience at Castelgandolfo by Pope Benedict XVI. In preparation for this appointment, the octogenarian Head of State told an interviewer on the First Channel of Italy’s public television (RAI): “The relations between the Vatican and the Jewish State are the best since the times of Jesus Christ, and have never been so good in two thousand years of history.” He added too: “The reigning Pontiff wishes to have a sincere dialogue with us, as we wish to have with the Vatican” ...

There is then still some way to go in order for the “dialogue” mentioned by President Peres to achieve its purposes completely. However, the forward-looking optimism of the President of Israel is promising, and in fact it seems that both Parties are working towards that goal and are making steady progress.

Jaeger, an expert on Church-State relations in Israel, tells AsiaNews: “Especially in the last few years, it appears that the negotiations, which in effect constitute this ‘dialogue’ – to which President Peres refers – between the Holy See and the State of Israel, are being pursued by both Parties with great seriousness and commitment, as is evident from the ‘Joint Communiqués’ released from time to time by the Bilateral Commission. Though without ignoring the problems in various sectors of the day-to-day relations between the Church and the State, optimism is obligatory, and such optimism in itself has a decidedly beneficial influence.” He adds too: “In the end, obstinate optimism endows the experience of daily life with an eschatological horizon.”

Former Holocaust denier Yasir Qadhi, the dean of academics at Al Maghrib Institute in New Haven, Conn., said the trip was eye-opening.

"Anybody who is a Holocaust denier should deserve a free ticket to see Auschwitz and Birkenau," he told the Jewish Daily Forward, "because seeing is just not the same as reading about it.”

WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Chabad emissaries convening in Washington met with Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden met the emissaries, who came from around the world and the United States, during their meetings Thursday with administration officials.

The U.S. leader reviewed Chabad teachings he had acquired over the years, including the necessity of combing "wisdom, knowledge and understanding," and explained how these could be applied to statecraft.

The two-day emissaries' conference, organized by American Friends of Lubavitch, also featured meetings with 20 members of both houses of the Congress, including the majority and minority leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives, a dinner featuring a speech by Nobel Peace laureate and Holocaust memoirist Elie Wiesel, and a lunch with ambassadors from countries where Chabad emissaries serve.

Jack Lew, a deputy secretary of state, shared stories about having to build a busy schedule around his Shabbat observance.

Top Turkish diplomats attended the lunch and the dinner with Wiesel, part of a bid to reassure American Jews that Turkey's Jewish community remains safe despite recent Turkey-Israel tensions.
