ROME (JTA) -- For at least the third time in his papacy, Pope Benedict's XVI is doing the Jewish dance that takes him one step back, one step forward.

The step back came when Benedict made a move in mid-December to bring Holocaust-era Pope Pius XII a bit closer to sainthood. The step forward will come in mid-January, when Benedict visits Rome's main synagogue -- a trip planned long before Benedict's move on Pius.

The question is what impact the visit will have on ruffled Catholic-Jewish relations.

"It is an important event, a milestone in the dialogue," Rome’s chief rabbi, Riccardo Di Segni, told Vatican Radio about the planned synagogue visit. "We have great expectations for what it can mean in terms of the general climate."

... Analysts said Benedict's move on Pius is part of the pope's effort to shore up conservative forces within the church.

"The pope apparently has chosen to balance his unquestionable commitment to the Catholic Church's good relations with world Judaism with his commitment to recuperating the religious right wing of Catholicism," said Lisa Palmieri Billig, the American Jewish Committee's liaison to the Vatican. "Obviously his path is strewn with warring obstacles."

Rabbi Gary Bretton-Granatoor, an expert in interfaith relations and the vice president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, said, "The great struggle of this moment is shoring up the most traditional elements of his church as he fights the growing secularization and Islamification of the European stage, which is right before his eyes."

Bretton-Granatoor said that the visit to the synagogue in Rome is "far more telling about the state of Catholic-Jewish relations" than the move to elevate Pius ...

Rabbis and Kosher-Catholic Priests in Pilpul

Pilpul, simply put, is a rabbinic dialectical process of "debate" or discussion by which a predetermined outcome is arrived at. It's the Pharisaic tradition which Jesus Christ condemned calling it a "tradition of men" which "makes void the word of God." Both the Jerusalem and Babylonian Talmuds are filled with pilpul which in most cases is for the purpose of circumventing Biblical law. The article below tells of rabbis and kosher-Catholic priests engaged in pilul for the purpose of circumventing the Gospel which condemns the very act they are engaged in. See Mark 7;13 for Christ's condemnation and Mishnah tractate Nedarim for the pilpul through which the "corban" that Christ condemned in Mark 7;13 was synthesized. And note that Jesus did not only condemn the Pharisaic "corban" invention and ritual hand washing, but He said, "many other such like things you [Pharisees] do."

Believe me when I tell you, in this "Judeo-Christian dialogue"--what is in reality pilpul--the rabbis aren't interested in hearing the Gospel. They're interested in finding ways around the Gospel, like their Pharisaic ideological forefathers found ways around Old Testament law. They intend to make the Gospel of none effect.

The Vatican has taken great pains to define and structure religious dialogues between faith communities. As recently as June 7, Pope Benedict II spoke to the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue of “the importance of truth being the goal of all dialogue and charity being the motivation behind all dialogue.” The content of the council’s meeting and the Pope’s statement seem to imply that religious dialogue is in need of guidelines to keep Catholic participants true to Church doctrine. But very few inter-faith dialogues deal with matters of deep theological import. Most are simply efforts to establish rapport and understanding.

Religious dialogues succeed or fail because of trust and respect. Achieving trust and respect takes time and dedication. Here is yet another example of a process which does not respond well to our need for instant gratification. Rabbis and priests in St. Louis have been in dialogue with each other for more than ten years. That dialogue would never have gotten off the ground had it not been for the personal bonds of friendship which existed between Father Vincent Heier, former Ecumenical officer of the St. Louis Archdiocese, and the late Rabbi Robert P. Jacobs, in his capacity as Executive Vice-president of the St. Louis Rabbinical Association. The two of them set out to create an atmosphere of dialogue which was faithful to the aspirations of the Vatican II process of reconciliation between Jews and Catholics.

We are still going strong. Every other month, a group of about twelve dialogue participants sit down to a kosher lunch provided by an anonymous donor, and over corned beef and turkey, hold a free-wheeling discussion. Sometimes the topics touch on clergy politics, i.e., “How do rabbis/priests get assigned to congregations? At other sessions, the news of the day may form the subject matter. For the most part the dialogue centers around an agreed upon topic with readings sent out in advance. Several sessions were devoted to a careful reading of Pope Benedict’s book, Jesus of Nazareth. Most recently the group studied fundamental documents of belief of the various expressions of Judaism, from Maimonides Thirteen Principles of Judaism to the latest platform of Reform Judaism. No question or comment is ever treated as off the subject. In fact, if there were a transcript of the proceedings it would read very much like a discussion in the Talmud.

Dialogue participants do not sugar-coat their questions or their responses. With the presence of Reform, Conservative and Orthodox rabbis, there is sometimes more intra-Jewish heat generated than heat between Jews and Catholics. Along the way there is significant learning and teaching which takes place. Our priests come to appreciate the wide range of Jewish responses to religious and moral questions of the day and our rabbis develop a more nuanced understanding of how the Church works in developing its teachings and public positions.

Just for the record, no one in these dialogues has converted anyone. Both sides remain true to their faith. What really takes place is a sorting out of real and imaginary differences. Not all or even most of the real differences can be bridged. The sages of Judaism believed that theological conflicts among rabbis were like sparks striking steel and resulted in illumination. I would include this image as a worthy description of true dialogues between persons of all faiths. For each participant there is a strengthening of faith.

"There’s No Place for Morals"

The opinion piece below written by Hebrew University of Jerusalem Professor, Yehezkel Dror is titled, "When Survival of the Jewish People Is at Stake, There’s No Place for Morals." This is the rabbinic mentality in a single sentence--Judaism being a tribal racket, nothing takes precedence over the tribe. Couple this with rabbinic paranoia and dialectics and you have a self-perpetuating religious system of anti-morality. Any old "threat" will suffice. For example, the rabbis decry marriage of Judaic persons to "Gentile" "shiksas" and "shkutzim" as "a threat to the survival of the Jewish people" tantamount to another "Holocaust." See:

This is but one example. In truth, there has never been a time in 2000 years of Judaism when the rabbis have not been screaming of a threat of "genocide" of "The Jews." Recall the Talmudic tall-tale of the Roman "genocide" of 4 BILLION Jews in one city, Bethar! (Gitin 57b). If the rabbis stopped summoning the specter of "genocide" of "The Jews" they would have to get real jobs.

There is never a time for true morality in Judaism, not that Judaism has any concept of true morality to begin with. What Yehezkel Dror is really saying is that there is no place for Christian, Biblical morals. That's what the rabbis were saying during the 2006 Israeli destruction of Lebanon: that Christian moral standards weakened the resolve of the Israeli military and caused danger to "The Jews;" there are no innocent women and children on the "enemy" side during "war." What the rabbis refer to as "war" is actually indiscriminate destruction of defenseless nations.

The astute among us will recognize this same rabbinic swindle at play in Washington D.C. where it is said that "preemptive" destruction, torture, the forfeiture of our God-given constitutional rights and the abandonment of Christian morality are all necessary due to "the Islamofascist threat."

When Survival of the Jewish People Is at Stake, There’s No Place for Morals

There is little disagreement that every Jewish leader, organization, community and individual has a duty to help ensure the continuity of the Jewish people. But in a world where the long-term existence of the Jewish state is far from certain, the imperative to exist inevitably gives rise to difficult questions, foremost among them this: When the survival of the Jewish people conflicts with the morals of the Jewish people, is existence worthwhile, or even possible?

Physical existence, I would argue, must come first. No matter how moral a society aspires to be, physical existence must take precedent.

Clear external and internal dangers threaten the very existence of Israel as a Jewish state. It is very likely that the collapse of Israel or the loss of its Jewish nature would undermine the existence of the Jewish people as a whole. And even given the existence of a Jewish state, less clear but no less fateful dangers threaten the long-term sustainable existence of the Diaspora.

When the requirements of existence conflict with other values, therefore, realpolitik should be given priority. From the threat of a disastrous conflict with Islamist actors such as Iran, to the necessity of maintaining distinctions between “us” and “others” in order to limit assimilation, this imperative ought to guide policymakers.

Regrettably, human history refutes the idealistic claim that in order to exist for long, a state, society or people has to be moral. Given the foreseeable realities of the 21st century and beyond, harsh choices are unavoidable, with requirements of existence often contradicting other important values.

Some might argue that putting existence first may be counter-productive in terms of existence itself, because what may be regarded as immoral action can undermine external and internal support essential for existence. However, the calculus of realpolitik gives primacy to existence, leaving limited room for ethical considerations. The unfortunate reality is that the Jewish people may be faced with tragic choices in which important values have to be sacrificed for even more important ones.

Responsible decisions in such difficult situations require clear recognition of the involved moral issues, careful pondering of all relevant values and acceptance of responsibility for one’s autonomous judgment. They also demand an effort to reduce to a minimum the violation of moral values.

Nonetheless, when faced with such choices, the Jewish people ought not be captivated by political correctness and other thinking-repressing fashions. When it comes to China, for example, efforts to strengthen the rising superpower’s ties to the Jewish people should trump moral-minded campaigns to alter Beijing’s domestic policies and handling of Tibet. The same goes for Turkey: Given its crucial peacemaking role in the Middle East, discussion of whether the Ottomans committed genocide against the Armenians ought to be left to historians, preferably non-Jewish ones.

That is not necessarily to condone China’s policies, or to deny Armenian history. Rather, it is to recognize that however just such moral stances may or may not be, the Jewish people must give primacy to existence.

What is required is a priori pondering of values, so as to have guidelines ready for judgment in specific contexts and under crisis conditions. The overall issue is whether the imperative for the Jewish people to exist is a categorical one overriding nearly all other values, or one among many imperatives of similar standing. Given both the history and current situation of the Jewish people, I would argue that the imperative to assure existence is of overriding moral weight.

Let us leave aside reliance on transcendental arguments, biblical commands and sayings of the sages, all of which are open to various interpretations. The justification for giving priority to the needs of existence is four-fold.

First, the Jewish people has an inherent right to exist, just as any other people or civilization.

Second, a people that has been regularly persecuted for 2,000 years is entitled morally, in terms of distributive justice, to be very tough in taking care of its existence, including the moral right and even duty to kill and be killed if this is essential for assuring existence — even at the cost of other values and to other people. This argument is all the more compelling in light of the unprecedented killing only a few decades ago of a third of the Jewish people — mass murder that was supported directly and indirectly, or at least not prevented when possible, by large parts of the civilized world.

Third, given the history of Judaism and the Jewish people, there is a good chance that we will continue to make much-needed ethical contributions to humanity. However, in order to do so we require a stable existence.

Fourth, the State of Israel is the only democratic country whose very existence is endangered by deeply hostile actors, again, without the world taking decisive countermeasures. This justifies — indeed, requires — measures that would be not only unnecessary but also potentially immoral in other circumstances.

The Jewish people should give much more weight to the imperative to assure existence than to other values. There are, of course, limits; nothing can justify initiating genocide. But with the few exceptions where being killed and destroyed is better than transgressing against absolute and total norms, assuring the existence of the Jewish people, including a Jewish State of Israel, should be valued as a top priority.

Thus, if the security of Israel is significantly strengthened by good relations with Turkey and China, but in some views Turkey is guilty of genocide in the past against the Armenians and China of now repressing Tibetans and domestic opposition, Jewish leaders and organizations should support Turkey and China, or at least remain neutral when it comes to their affairs. At a minimum, Jewish leaders should not join the chorus of liberal and humanitarian actors condemning Turkey and China.

Similarly, Jewish leaders should support harsh measures against terrorists who potentially endanger Jews, even at the cost of human rights and humanitarian law. And if the threat is sufficiently grave, the use of weapons of mass destruction by Israel would be justified if likely to be necessary for assuring the state’s survival, the bitter price of large number of killed innocent civilians notwithstanding.

To be sure, there is much room for debate on what is really required for existence. Giving priority to the imperative to exist does not imply supporting each and every policy of Israel. Indeed, the opposite is true: Diaspora leaders, organizations and individuals have a duty to criticize Israeli policies that in their view endanger the Jewish state and the Jewish people’s existence, along with an obligation to propose alternative existence-assuring policies.

But at the end of the day there is no way around the tough and painful practical implications of prioritizing existence as an overriding moral norm over being moral in other respects. When important for existence, violating the rights of others should be accepted, with regret but with determination. Support or condemnation of various countries and their policies should be decided upon primarily in light of probable consequences for the existence of the Jewish people.

In short, the imperatives of existence should be given priority over other concerns — however important they may be — including liberal and humanitarian values, support for human rights and democratization.

This tragic but compelling conclusion is not easy to swallow, but it is essential for the future of the Jewish people. Once our existence is assured, including basic security for Israel, much can and should be sacrificed for tikkun olam. But given present and foreseeable realities, assuring existence must come first.

Anyone who has read the talmudic texts will recognize the dialectical pilpul at play here--the lawyerly process of synthesizing anti-biblical interpretations of biblical texts. What makes it even more diabolical here is that one of the rabbis engaged in the process is wearing a priest suit and the subject is the New Testament.

Through an intensive three-day workshop of lectures and discussions led by Jewish and Catholic leaders, scholars and Holocaust survivors, the program provides Catholic school teachers with the training and resources necessary to teach their students about anti-Semitism, the Holocaust and Catholic-Jewish relations, said Matt Freedman, an associate director at the Anti-Defamation League ...

Evette Escamilla, a sixth- and seventh-grade history teacher at St. Marianne's Catholic school in Pico Rivera, said her school valued the opportunity to be part of a dialogue that could be introduced into the classroom.

"Our principal really urged us to come and participate in this week of discussion and reflection," she said. "It's wonderful that we actually get to experience this."

Escamilla said she was most intrigued by a dialogue session between a rabbi and priest, who offered up similar interpretations of events chronicled in the Christian New Testament.

After the dialectical sorcery is done and the Catholic school teachers have been processed to believe that these Talmudic Khazar swindlers are somehow related to Jesus Christ, they're compelled to transmit this mental virus to the children back at their schools:

"The person we follow as Catholics is Jewish. We can't ignore his Jewishness," said Bonar. "We can't ignore this context when we teach our own religion. Ignoring it plants these seeds of hate."

The legislation states: "the leasing of Jewish National Fund lands for the purpose of settling Jews will not be seen as unacceptable discrimination." Before the legislators voted, the Knesset's legal adviser, Nurit Elstein, cleared the bill of accusations that it was racist.

Israel's parliament last week approved by an overwhelming majority the first reading of a bill to ensure that much of the country's inhabited land remains accessible to Jewish citizens only -- a move described by one leading local newspaper as turning Israel into a "racist Jewish state".

The private member's bill, called the Jewish National Fund Law, has received cross-party support. The first reading was approved by 64 legislators, with 16 -- most of them Arab MKs -- opposed. Supporters ranged from former premiere Binyamin Netanyahu, leader of the Likud Party, to Ami Ayalon, a recent challenger to head the Labour Party.

The legislation is designed to nullify the threat posed by a Supreme Court judgment, reached in 2000, that potentially opens the door to thousands of Arab families leaving the tightly controlled areas assigned to them and choosing where they live. Currently Arab citizens, who comprise a fifth of the population, are barred from buying homes in most of the country.

The move is the latest in a series of battles since Israel's establishment in 1948 to ensure exclusive Jewish control of land through an international Zionist organisation known as the Jewish National Fund (JNF). By the time of Israel's founding, the JNF had bought about six per cent of historic Palestine for Jewish settlement. Rather than demanding that these territories be handed over by the JNF, the new state authorities assigned the organisation a special, quasi- governmental status. The JNF was also given a significant share of the lands and property confiscated from hundreds of thousands of Palestinians expelled during the 1948 War.

Today, the state has nationalised 80 per cent of land inside Israel, and the JNF holds another 13 per cent. Neither sells land to private owners on the grounds that it is being held in trust for worldwide Jewry. Instead, they offer long-term leases on the land in their possession.

The JNF has far more power than the division of land suggests, however: its 13 per cent share is reported to include some 70 per cent of the country's inhabited land; it effectively controls a government body known as the Israel Lands Authority that manages the 93 per cent of land owned by the state and the JNF; and it dominates committees set up to vet applicants to hundreds of rural communities.

Because the JNF charter forbids it from selling or leasing land to non-Jews, this arrangement has allowed the JNF to discriminate against Arab citizens on behalf of the government. The JNF's control of the Israel Lands Authority and the vetting committees has ensured that Arab citizens are excluded from most of the 93 per cent of nationalised land.

Instead they have been restricted to the three per cent of Israel on which Arab communities already exist or which is privately owned by Arab citizens, though even much of this land falls under the jurisdiction of Jewish regional councils that refuse to allow Arab families to build on it. Dozens of other Arab communities are classified as illegal because the state refuses to recognise them, even though they predate Israel's establishment.

The JNF's stranglehold on the management of Israeli land was finally challenged in 2000 when the Supreme Court compelled the vetting committee of a rural community, Katzir, to consider the application of an Arab family, the Kaadans, for a plot of land advertised for sale. Katzir's committee, which until the ruling had been refusing even to deal with the Kaadans' application, subsequently rejected the family on the grounds that they were not "socially suitable". Seven years later the court has yet to offer the Kaadans proper redress.

However, the Kaadans ruling opened the way for other Arab families to demand the right to bid for homes in communities designed only for Jews. The JNF has twice tried to market homes in a new neighbourhood of Karmiel, a town in the Galilee, but has been forced to cancel the tender on each occasion when families from a nearby Arab community, Sakhnin, applied. A petition to the Supreme Court submitted in 2004 on behalf of the Arab families has yet to be heard.

In the meantime, the JNF is reported to be considering withdrawing from the long-standing arrangement that places the Israel Lands Authority in charge of managing all public land, including JNF land. As the court ruling applies only to land managed by the Israel Lands Authority, the JNF would be still entitled to discriminate if it marketed its own housing schemes without the help of the Israel Lands Authority.

The government has been desperately seeking a way both to maintain its relationship with the JNF and not to provoke a second court ruling against it. Earlier this year it announced that land was to be offered to Jews and Arabs without discrimination. In compensation, the JNF would be given state land of equal value every time it was forced to lease land to an Arab family.

The scheme has been criticised by human rights groups which fear it will perpetuate and ultimately exacerbate discrimination by increasing the amount of land under JNF ownership: the JNF will still own the land it is leasing to Arab families but it will also be sold additional land from the state.

The new bill seeks to prevent even the government's proposed minor concession by nullifying the Supreme Court ruling. The legislation states: "the leasing of JNF lands for the purpose of settling Jews will not be seen as unacceptable discrimination." Before the legislators voted, the Knesset's legal adviser, Nurit Elstein, cleared the bill of accusations that it was racist.

Arab Knesset member Wassel Taha, of the National Democratic Assembly, said: "Only an insane Knesset would pass a racist law that affirms the great land theft of 1948 and turns it into Jews- only property."

July 19, 2007 - New York - The American Jewish Committee welcomes the Vatican's concern for replacing a prayer calling for the conversion of Jews in the Tridentine Latin mass.

"We appreciate the statement by Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, Vatican Secretary of State, making it clear that efforts will be made to replace the disturbing Good Friday prayer for Jewish conversion found in the 1962 version of the Latin Tridentine mass," said Rabbi David Rosen, AJC's international director of Interreligious Affairs.

Following the Pope's "Motu Proprio" announced on July 7, there had been concern that this pre-Vatican II prayer would again be more extensively used.

"Contrary to those who presented the Motu Proprio, as a retreat from advances in Catholic-Jewish relations, this clarification in effect confirms those strides and even advances them," said Rosen.

For well over half a century, AJC has been deeply involved in seeking to advance Catholic-Jewish relations around the world. Rabbi Rosen chairs the International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations which is the official Jewish partner of the Holy See's Commission for Religious Relations with Jewry, chaired by Cardinal Walter Kasper.

New York, NY, July 19, 2007 … The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) welcomed the comments of a senior Vatican official that the Good Friday Latin prayer to convert Jews could be removed from the re-introduced Latin liturgy. Holy See Secretary of State Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, who ranks second to Pope Benedict XVI, told reporters that the Vatican could study the possibility of substituting the prayer. "This could be decided and this would resolve all the problems," he said.

"We are pleased that the Vatican is listening to our concerns," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "We hope that Cardinal Bertone's public conjectures will shortly result in putting Catholic-Jewish relations back to the positive mode we were in before all this."

Mr. Foxman added that, "ADL has no position on the Latin Mass itself. Our concern is focused on the Good Friday Latin prayer to convert Jews, which contradicts 40 years of evolving Catholic teachings about the eternal covenant between God and the Jewish people, and the end of efforts to baptize Jews."

ADL has called on the Holy See to re-examine its decision to sanction the anti-Jewish Good Friday prayer, which is included in a new papal decree that grants wider usage of the Latin Mass, a worship service that has been restricted since the progressive reforms of the Second Vatican Council and the landmark Nostra Aetate document in the 1960s. Because of the offensive language, Pope Paul VI in 1970 replaced the 1962 Latin prayer with a much more positive prayer for Jews.

No Prayers Necessary for the Self-Chosen

These people believe they are redeemed solely by virtue of their being born. Prayers from soulless Christian idolater trash for the eternal welfare of the chosen people are not necessary, and indeed highly offensive. Vatican authorities seem to be of this same thinking.

The question, however, is this: if these "chosen people" are redeemed solely by virtue of their "race," then why did John the Baptist preach repentance to the true ethnic Jews of his day and why did Jesus Christ target the same Jews in His ministry and die a horrible death for them on the cross? He must have been very confused. Thank God we have the great minds of the ADL and the Vatican to sort out Christ's mistakes.

Top Vatican official says controversial Latin prayer for Jews could be dropped

ROME - The most senior official in the Vatican after the Pope suggested yesterday that a highly controversial prayer for the conversion of the Jews could be dropped from the re-introduced Latin-language rite.

Speaking at a news conference, Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone was asked about Pope Benedict's recent decree allowing a wider use of the old Latin missal, or prayer book, that was phased out after the reforms of the so-called Second Vatican Council.

Jewish leaders sharply criticized the decree, which revived the possible use of a passage from the old Latin prayer book for Good Friday calling for Jews to be converted.

Bertone, who is secretary of state and ranks second only to the Pope in the Vatican hierarchy, said "we could simply study" the possibility of substituting the prayer. The Good Friday prayer asks that God remove the "veil" from from Jewish heart so that they would recognize Jesus Christ.

Senior US officials in Washington on Wednesday promised ongoing military support for secular Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas amid his power struggle with Islamist Hamas as part of an $84 million aid package largely aimed at improving the fighting ability of an elite corps of loyalists from his Fatah Party.

Israel, too, is making overtures to Mr. Abbas, reported the Israeli newspaper Haaretz on Wednesday, allowing light arms to flow to members of his Presidential Guard and saying that it would allow some of the US training of his forces to take place in the West Bank.

Civil War in Palestine: Playing into the hands of the Cryptocracy

For several years now this writer has felt a growing anxiety over the Palestinian penchant for violent resistance to Israeli occupation.

The Israelis brutalize and murder the Palestinians and the Palestinians reply with gunfire, bombs and homemade rockets. True, according to the West's own ethos concerning resistance to occupation on the part of the French and the partisans during World War II, such resistance is justified. By the standard of the anti-colonial struggle that gave rise to many of the Third World's new nations during the 20th century, any subjugated people have the right to resort to arms to gain their freedom and their land.

But all of those theories and models fail when applied to Palestine. The French resistance was backed by the UK, the US and the USSR. The partisans of Eastern Europe were mostly Soviet-backed irregulars. Anti-colonial fighters in South Africa and Rhodesia ("Zimbabwe") were lionized and aided financially and militarily by western powers. Zimbabwe's armed resistance was later blessed by none other than Pope John Paul II. Robert Mugabe was hailed as an ideal leader by the same pope. In South Africa, the Lithuanian-Judaic Communist Joe Slovo led the ANC bombing campaign against South Africa's soldiers and civilians. None of Slovo's atrocities lessened western support for the anti-apartheid guerillas, who eventually triumphed as the result of a nearly air-tight worldwide economic boycott of the South African government.

None of this applies to Palestine. The Palestinians have plenty of sympathy from their Arab brothers, but little else. Fouad Ajami writes, "For their part, the Arab states have only compounded the Palestinian misery. The Arab cavalry was always on the way, the Arab treasure was always a day away, and there was thus no need for the Palestinians to pay tribute to necessity... For decades, Arab society granted the Palestinians everything and nothing at the same time. The Arab states built worlds of their own, had their own priorities, dreaded and loathed the Palestinians as outsiders and agitators, but left them to the illusion that Palestine was an all-consuming Arab concern. Now the Palestinians should know better. The center of Arab politics has shifted from the Mediterranean to the Persian Gulf, a great political windfall has come to the lands of the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula, vast new wealth due to the recent rises in oil prices, while misery overwhelms the Palestinians. No Arabs wait for Palestine anymore; they have left the Palestinians to the ruin of their own history." (NY Times, June 19). Ajami has been terribly wrong in some of his past commentaries; that should not blind us to the truths he has written here.

Jordan, Egypt and Saudi Arabia long ago cut a clandestine deal with the Israelis to cooperate with Zionist colonialism while trying to modify and soften the worst aspects of it. They are like beggars asking for crumbs from the Israeli table, a sight all the more disgusting and dishonorable in that the Saudis control the greatest material prize in modern history, the black gold that is oil, but they are too incompetent and sybaritic to do anything meaningful with it, such as buying U.S. newspapers and television stations through Arab-American proxies.

Palestinians die like flies from malnutrition, inadequate health care, Israeli bombs and bullets, and now the bullets of their own men; and the Gulf state sheikdoms revel in luxury as never before. It is difficult to expect much from such people, such as for example, the ability to overcome Israeli suzerainty in our lifetime. Patently, they have accommodated themselves to it - when they are not being out-fought and checkmated by a Kabbalistic genius with no counterpart in Arabia.

Palestinian populists and patriots forever turn to their old reliable standby: guns and rockets. The supremacist Israelis respond however they like -- massacres, war crimes, invasions, assassination. A handful of human rights groups pay attention, protest and document it. Some British academics announce a boycott of Israeli academics and are almost shouted off the map of the UK. The European Union is now openly cooperating with Israeli colonialism, as is the new head of the United Nations.

But the Palestinians keep shooting, not only losing friends and moral capital but giving the Israelis the excuse they need to build higher apartheid walls, more checkpoints and settlements.

A definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The Palestinians keep shooting and bombing Israeli soldiers and civilians, and now even each other and their own women and children, and nothing changes. It only gets worse.

"Raji Sourani, 53, the director of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights...characterized the factional fighting that swept Gaza as 'sad, bad, bloody, and extremely bitter.' His organization placed the final death toll at 146 Palestinians, 36 of them civilians, including five children and eight women....Sourani said three fighters were shot dead at point-blank range while recovering from wounds in Gaza's hospitals. Many other summary executions happened in the streets, he said, implicating both Hamas and Fatah gunmen....Hobbling into the office on crutches, Ismail Sadr, a 28-year-old emergency room doctor, recounted how he was shot in the foot by a Hamas gunman who had moved with about a dozen others into an operating room in the northern city of Beit Hanoun in search of a wounded Fatah fighter. 'Later, we found this other patient dead in his bed from bullet wounds he didn't arrive with,' Sadr said...he could not get medical treatment for himself for several hours while Hamas gunmen surrounded Shifa Hospital." (Washington Post, June 20).

These are the tactics for which we have condemned the Israelis who have proved to be efficient teachers of the Palestinians, who have deteriorated psychologically after decades of occupation, malnutrition, severe overcrowding and Israeli mass murder.

In the Arab honor code and the Arab concept of manhood, violent retribution for attacks and insults is mandatory. The fact is, until they employ Quaker, Mennonite and Peter Maurin's Catholic Worker tactics against the Israelis, they are going to continue to lose their land, their quality of life and their humanity. If the reader scoffs, "That's pacifism," consider this: in the Kabbalistic chess game, Palestinian non-violence is the only thing the Judaic conspirators fear.

Other than distant Venezuela, the only significant Palestinian ally is Iran, and the dirty little Arab secret of anti-Iranian racism threatens to sabotage even that alliance. Iranians are privately derided as "Persians" and there are plenty of Arab conspiracy theories about Iranians serving as American proxies. I kid you not. It seems they prefer the fat oil merchants of their own race who function as the trained seals of Kabbalistic Zionism.

It's not difficult to forecast the future of Palestine. The Palestinians will continue to imagine they have Arab allies and some kind of "power," even as they periodically plead for assistance from the "international community" by which they mean the UN and the European Union. As the pro-Zionist Western media minimizes coverage of Israeli war crimes and maximizes coverage of Palestinian violence, the face of the Palestinians will become indistinguishable from the face of al-Qaeda in the western mind. This has already happened.

As they are made to bear ever more humiliation and oppression not only from Israelis but also from their own factions, the Palestinians will become ever more brutalized and radicalized, and the appeal of Salafist Islamic fundamentalism, (itself a creature of the western intelligence agencies whose Shin Bet had a hand in the rise of Hamas and who have a CIA asset in Fatah's Mohammed Dahlan), will grow exponentially.

The Palestinians, like the Arabs generally, from the "street" to the palaces, are following the Kabbalistic script to the letter. In the crucible of alchemical transformation, the once mostly secular, urbane and peace-loving Palestinians are becoming hateful religious fanatics to rival the hate-filled fanatic-rabbis of the Israeli settlements.

In that same crucible, the Muslims who, for a thousand years observed a code of non-violence toward civilians that shamed the West and made Saladin a figure of admiration throughout the world, have descended to the level of Ishmael, a wild man whose hand is against every man's and every man's against his.

Islam will have real power in Europe in fifteen or twenty years because that continent full of self-exterminating hedonists is going to contracept itself out of existence and Pope Benedict XVI, who privately shields and harbors child molester-facilitators like Bernard Law, Roger Mahoney and William S. Skylstad, does not have much credibility preaching "family values" to Europe's boys-and-girls-gone-wild. The Muslims will gain on Europe demographically and conquer by that means.

In the U.S. it's a different story however, with resurgent Protestant fundamentalists and Catholic traditionalists having large families. The Arabs and Muslims are losing support every day in the U.S., even among anti-Zionist Christians who are appalled by what's been transpiring in Iraq and now Gaza. Imagine what would have happened to the moral capital of the the black people of the American South during segregation, had they responded to Bull Connor's dogs and fire hoses with machine guns and rockets? Jim Crow would still be ruling the South.

Americans of all shades of opinion are becoming disgusted and turned off by the unbridled carnage Arabs are willing to visit on their brethren and each other's holy places and while that's hypocritical, considering that 600,000 Americans slaughtered each other in a War Between the States that to this day is celebrated as Mr. Lincoln's finest hour, our own hypocrisy cannot overcome the fact that the Arab character is increasingly viewed, even by those Americans with no sympathy for Zionism, as deeply tainted by violence.

Americans value law and order and the prospect of sharing our country with people who will bomb their own mosques in Iraq and slay their own children in Gaza is not an appealing prospect. Meanwhile the Judaics we know in our towns and cities play violin in the local orchestra, teach literature in the local schools, serve as our doctors and dentists in hospitals and clinics and are seldom involved in assaults or street crime. In other words, however false the stereotype, the image of Judaic = peace and order, Arab = bloodlust and anarchy, is gaining throughout the West and the fault is not solely that of the biased Zionist media.

The civil war in Iraq and the spectacle of Hamas running amok in Gaza, have been an Arab/Muslim public relations disaster. Consider this recent headline: "Israel Lets Food and Medicine Enter Gaza to Avert Crisis." The vile neo-Nazi Israeli regime is being made to look good by suicidal Arabs whose chief ambition seems to be the same as that of the settler rabbis: to light a fuse of war that will never stop burning. This fits the neo-con Bush/Cheney "clash of civilizations" scenario like a glove.

Is there an Arab Gandhi or Dorothy Day on the horizon? If not, then God help us all.

Israel plans attack on Gaza

ISRAEL's new defence minister Ehud Barak is planning an attack on Gaza within weeks to crush the Hamas militants who have seized power there.

According to senior Israeli military sources, the plan calls for 20,000 troops to destroy much of Hamas's military capability in days.

The raid would be triggered by Hamas rocket attacks against Israel or a resumption of suicide bombings.

Barak, who is expected to become defence minister tomorrow, has already demanded detailed plans to deploy two armoured divisions and an infantry division, accompanied by assault drones and F-16 jets, against Hamas.

"Elliot Abrams' uncivil war"

US Deputy National Security Adviser Elliott Abrams - whom Newsweek recently described as "the last neo-con standing" - has had it about for some months now that the United States is not only not interested in dealing with Hamas, it is working to ensure its failure.

In the immediate aftermath of the Palestinian elections won by Hamas last January, Abrams greeted a group of Palestinian businessmen in his White House office with talk of a "hard coup" against the newly elected Hamas government - the violent overthrow of its leadership with arms supplied by the US.

While the businessmen were shocked, Abrams was adamant - the US had to support Fatah with guns, ammunition and training, so that it could fight Hamas for control of the Palestinian government.

The failed coup in Venezuela was closely tied to senior officials in the US government, The Observer has established. They have long histories in the 'dirty wars' of the 1980s, and links to death squads working in Central America at that time.

Washington's involvement in the turbulent events that briefly removed left-wing leader Hugo Chavez from power last weekend resurrects fears about US ambitions in the hemisphere.

It also also deepens doubts about policy in the region being made by appointees to the Bush administration, all of whom owe their careers to serving in the dirty wars under President Reagan.

One of them, Elliot Abrams, who gave a nod to the attempted Venezuelan coup, has a conviction for misleading Congress over the infamous Iran-Contra affair.

The Pope and the Rabbi "Debate" Charade Continues to Play Out

The Jerusalem Post has now published an editorial from Rabbi Jacob Nuesner in which he continues the dialectical process under the guise of a debate with Benedict. In the editorial Rabbi Neusner states:

"In the Middle Ages rabbis were forced to engage with priests in disputations in the presence of kings and cardinals on which is the true religion, Judaism or Christianity. The outcome was predetermined. Christians won; they had the swords."

I see. My response to this whopper is that some would say it's Judaics who now hold the swords. Ernst Zundel, Germar Rudolf, Robert Faurisson and the others who have been beaten, imprisoned, fined, had their reputations and careers ruined and otherwise been persecuted for refusing to assent to Judaic "holocaust" dogma could certainly attest to that fact. And coincidentally, the Vatican is presently more rotten with philo-Judaism and crypto-Judaism than it has ever been in history. The Vatican is currently headed by a man who has promulgated a document in which he suggests that Christian interpretation of Scripture should be reevaluated in light of the so-called "holocaust" of "The Jews." This, naturally, is why Rabbi Neusner is now in the mood for a "debate" with the Pope.

On the contrary, Mr. Neusner. The fix is in on this "debate," just as it was in Pfefferkorn's case.

Skipping ahead we come to Neusner's primary objection:

[Jesus] claimed to reform and to improve, "You have heard it said... but I say...." We maintain, and I argued in my book[A Rabbi Talks With Jesus], that the Torah was and is perfect and beyond improvement, and the Judaism built upon the Torah and the prophets and writings, the originally-oral parts of the Torah written down in the Mishna, Talmud, and Midrash - that Judaism was and remains God's will for humanity.

We've already shown that this objection is absurd from Neusner's own writings where he himself explains how the rabbis put their words in their god's mouth. This editorial being meant for public consumption, Nuesner will not make any such revelations therein. There we only get the stock account of the "oral Torah."

But if we turn to Rabbi Nuesner's book, Rabbinic Judaism: Structure and System, we find that the concept of "oral Torah" was developed a few centuries too late for it to constitute a valid basis for his objection.

The complex of rabbinically ordained practices ... including most of the rules for the treatment of Scripture itself--do not derive from Scripture at all. Rabbinic Judaism's initial concern was with the elaboration and refinement of it's own system. Attaching the system to scripture was secondary. It therefore is misleading to depict rabbinic Judaism primarily as a consequence of an exegetical process or the organic unfolding of Scripture. Rather, rabbinic Judaism began as the work of a small, ambitious, and homogeneous group of pseudo-priests ...

By the third century (A.D.) the rabbis expressed their self-conception in the ideology of "oral Torah" which held that a comprehensive body of teachings and practices (halachot) not included in Scripture had been given by God and through Moses only to the rabbinic establishment. Not only is the "oral Torah" a complete fabrication of the rabbis, but it was still being developed centuries after Christ as it is clearly stated in Nuesner's book. Therefore Nuesner's objection to Christ--that He changed the Law--falls flat. The rabbis themselves changed the Law and created new laws from thin air and they continued to do so centuries after Christ. They're the worst abrogators of Biblical Law that have ever lived.


Rabbi Nuesner closes thus:

Pope Engages The Rabbis in Dialectics Around Christ and the Gospel

EDITOR'S NOTE: Astute Popes of the past critically analyzed rabbinic texts and subjected them to public debate in which the perverse idiocy of the rabbinic tradition was laid bare for all to see as is to be expected in any fair debate on the matter. Modern Popes brush the ugliness of Judaism under the rug and engage the rabbis in dialectical pilpul around Christ and the Gospel. This is the era of Judaic domination in which we live: when the backwards tradition of rabbinic Judaism which maintains that a man must put his mouth on a baby's penis during the circumcision ritual in order for the circumcision to be valid is exalted while the liberating Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is subject to unrelenting Pharisaic scrutiny which the Pope responds to, not in the spirit with which Christ confronted the Pharisees but in the spirit of the Pharisees themselves--by engaging them in pilpul.

There will be no Christlike defense of the Gospel or rebuke of the rabbinic tradition from Pope Benedict XVI, a man whom papal Rabbi-Knight, David Rosen--whom Benedict himself appointed--described as being "aware of his special responsibility to reaffirm the Church's commitment to a more pro-Jewish attitude." No, Benedict VXI has nothing but respect for the depraved, so-called "religion," but in fact, corrupt racket of Judaism, which will certainly be evident in his "dialogical thinking" around Christ with Rabbi Neusner whom he can't seem to praise enough.

For your thoughtful comparison, here is how Pope Innocent IV described the rabbinic tradition of Judaism which Benedict XVI respects so highly:

The ... Jews ... omitting or scorning the Mosaic law and the prophets, follow certain traditions of their seniors concerning which the Lord rebukes them in the Gospel, saying: Why do you transgress the mandate of God and irritate Him by your traditions, teaching human doctrines and mandates? [Matthew 15;9]

Upon this sort of traditions, which in Hebrew are called the Talmud--and there is a great book among them exceeding the text of the Bible in length, in which are manifest blasphemies against God and Christ and the blessed Virgin, intricate fables, erroneous abuses, and unheard-of stupidities--they nourish and teach their sons and render them utterly alien from the doctrine of the law and the prophets, fearing lest, if they knew the truth, which is in the law and the prophets, and which testifies openly that the only begotten son of God will come in the flesh, they would be converted to the faith and humbly return to their Redeemer. And not content with these things, they make Christian women nurses of their sons in contumely of the Christian faith, with whom they commit many shameful things. On which account the faithful should be afraid lest they incur divine wrath while they unworthily allow them to perpetrate acts which bring confusion upon our faith. (Pope Innocent IV, May 9, 1244 Letter to King Louis IX of France)

Both popes speak of the same rabbinic, Talmudic tradition which contains the same manifest blasphemies against God and Christ and the blessed Virgin, intricate fables, erroneous abuses, and unheard-of stupidities as it did at the time of Innocent IV's writing (and which Talmud, incidentally, Rabbi Jacob Neusner refers to as "the founding document of Judaism" (Jacob Neusner, How the Talmud Works (Boston: Brill, 2002) ix). But one Pope confronts the rabbinic tradition with the single mind of Christ, the other with the dialectical mind of the rabbis.

Note that Pope Innocent IV makes a direct connection between the Talmudic, rabbinic tradition and the Pharisaic "tradition of the elders" which Christ execrated throughout the Gospels. Innocent IV also plainly states the fact that the rabbis render their followers utterly alien from the doctrine of the law and the prophets. Benedict XVI tells us that the rabbinic tradition of the elders is a valid interpretation of biblical scripture; is what Christianity has "sprung from;" and encourages Christians to establish stronger religious relations with it. Could there possibly be greater disparity between the thinking and actions of these two Popes? Which position more closely reflects that of Christ towards the tradition of the elders? I seem to recall that Christ told His disciples to beware the Pharisaic tradition of the elders--"the leaven of the Pharisees"--and that the Apostles understood "leaven" to mean the doctrine of the Pharisees (Matthew 16:12). But here is Pope Benedict telling us precisely the opposite.

Benedict's preaching of rabbis and popes who "love" and "respect" one another and each other's traditions is nothing short of occult alchemy. What fellowship hath light with darkness? What did Christ speak more harshly against than the Pharisees and their tradition--the tradition which Rabbi Jacob Neusner carries on today? Benedict and his "elder brothers in the faith" apparently figure these difficulties in the Gospel are nothing that can't be circumvented with a little pilpul. And they will likely bring confusion upon our faith to use Innocent IV's words, but not without incurring divine wrath. God is not mocked.

If the Pope had true Christian love for Rabbi Neusner he would correct his errors, not praise them, if not only for the sake of Rabbi Neusner's soul, for the sake of the millions of Christian souls who's faith he brings confusion upon by failing to do so.

After saints, most-quoted author in pope's new book is a U.S. rabbi

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- After the Gospel writers and the apostle Paul, the author most quoted in Pope Benedict XVI's new book is Rabbi Jacob Neusner, a U.S. professor of religion and theology.

In his book, "Jesus of Nazareth," released April 16 in Italian, German and Polish, Pope Benedict joined the literary dialogue that Rabbi Neusner invented for himself in his 1993 book, "A Rabbi Talks With Jesus."

The pope said that Rabbi Neusner's "profound respect for the Christian faith and his faithfulness to Judaism led him to seek a dialogue with Jesus."

Imagining himself amid the crowd gathered on a Galilean hillside when Jesus gave his Sermon on the Mount, Rabbi Neusner "listens, confronts and speaks with Jesus himself," the pope wrote.

"In the end, he decides not to follow Jesus," the pope wrote. "He remains faithful to that which he calls the 'eternal Israel.'"

Pope Benedict said Rabbi Neusner makes painfully clear the differences between Christianity and Judaism, but "in a climate of great love: The rabbi accepts the otherness of the message of Jesus and takes his leave with a detachment that knows no hatred."

The pope praised Rabbi Neusner for taking the Gospel of Jesus seriously and, in fact, more seriously than many modern Christian scholars do.

Jesus is the Son of God, the unique savior, and not simply a social reformer, a liberal rabbi or the teacher of a new morality, the pope said.

Pope Benedict wrote that in trying to understand who Jesus was and his relationship with his Jewish faith and with the Torah, the law given to Moses, Rabbi Neusner's book "was of great help."

Rabbi Neusner, a prolific author and professor at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y., told Catholic News Service in Rome that he did not want to talk about the pope's book until he had seen it. The English edition is scheduled for a May release.

In the introduction to the revised and expanded 2000 edition of his book, Rabbi Neusner wrote, "If I had been in the land of Israel in the first century, I would not have joined the circle of Jesus' disciples. ... If I heard what he said in the Sermon on the Mount, for good and substantive reasons I would not have followed him.

"Where Jesus diverges from the revelation by God to Moses at Mount Sinai, he is wrong and Moses is right," Rabbi Neusner wrote.

In Pope Benedict's treatment of the Sermon on the Mount, 18 of the 25 pages refer to Rabbi Neusner's book.

"More than any of the other interpretations of the Sermon on the Mount with which I am familiar, this debate between a believing Jew and Jesus, son of Abraham, conducted with respect and frankness, opened my eyes to the greatness of the word of Jesus and to the choice the Gospel places before us," the pope wrote.

Austrian Cardinal Christoph Schonborn of Vienna, presenting the pope's book at an April 13 Vatican conference, said reading Rabbi Neusner's book was "one of the reasons" Pope Benedict decided to write his.

"What Pope Benedict says about the book (by Rabbi Neusner) is so essential for understanding his own book about Jesus," the cardinal said.

"More than discussions about exegetical methods" used to understand what the Scriptures say about Jesus, Cardinal Schonborn said, the pope has "at heart the discussion with the rabbi."

"Rabbi Neusner is so important for the book of Joseph Ratzinger/Benedict XVI" precisely because he accepts what Jesus says about himself in the Gospels, the cardinal said.

German Father Joseph Sievers, director of the Cardinal Bea Center for Judaic Studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, where Rabbi Neusner has been a guest speaker, said the rabbi "takes very seriously the extraordinary claims of Jesus: He is not just a rabbi teaching the golden rule."

Both Rabbi Neusner and Pope Benedict, Father Sievers said, "have a high Christology," emphasizing the divinity of Christ even if Rabbi Neusner cannot accept Christ's claim.

"(Rabbi) Neusner, even when he spoke here, did not try to find easy solutions or to bridge gaps" between Christians and Jews, Father Sievers said.

In his book, Rabbi Neusner said he hoped to contribute to Christian-Jewish dialogue by taking Christian teaching and Jewish teaching seriously.

"It is one model for a starting point for dialogue -- to recognize differences and not try to make them disappear or to hide them," Father Sievers said.

Father Sievers said Pope Benedict's new book is a further sign that he "is strong on Judaism, he respects it and he knows the contemporary scholarship."

"Basically, he loves a good discussion and so does (Rabbi) Neusner," he said.

AIPAC Removes Constitutional Obstacles to War; Judaic Dialectics

EDITOR'S NOTE: The U.S. founding fathers, in their wisdom, made constitutional provisions specifically intended to prevent a warmongering tyrant president from running amok, as G. W. Bush under the influence of his Court "Jews" and philo-Judaic advisors has. AIPAC, in it's subversion, has sought to remove those constitutional provisions and to block any attempts to reinforce them. This shouldn't surprise anyone who knows that "Israel" doesn't even have a constitution. That's right. There's just the dialectic process and fluid case law. It's government based on Talmudic pilpul (dialectics), which brings us to this article and the dialectics which it's writer applies.

Note the highlighted text. This is what most people would consider "balanced" reporting. But is it though? Are both positions equally reasonable and worthy of consideration? That's what the term "balance" implies, doesn't it? This is only a matter of constitutional principles, and who takes those old things seriously anymore, right? Or, is the Zionist position--that the U.S. Constitution should be disregarded because it's an obstacle to Zionist warmongering--really equal to the position which maintains that the Constitutional principles that the U.S. was founded upon should be upheld?

No, of course, those are not equal positions. To represent these two positions as equally valid and worthy of consideration is no different than relativising child rape with traditional Christian parenting. That's precisely how rabbinic dialectics work. And there is a point to it all: the synthesis.

In this case the Zionists have moved closer to their goal of the destruction of Iran. And any irrational belief there is among the goyim that it's perfectly reasonable for the Zionists to destroy Iran while trashing the U.S. Constitution in the process is the synthesis that the dialectic process has yielded. Through the process of dialectics the US has gone from a nation based upon Constitutional principles to a nation which disregards and overturns it's Constitutional principles and accepts actions completely at odds with the U.S. Constitution for the sake of an enemy of the American people as perfectly reasonable.

Now, can you see how that process has also worked within the Church?

AIPAC backed removal of Iran war provision

AIPAC lobbying helped remove a provision from a bill that would have required President Bush to seek congressional approval for war against Iran. A number of congressional sources confirmed that the American Israel Public Affairs Committee backed dropping the provision from the Iraq war spending bill introduced Tuesday by Democrats. The bill ties funding to deadlines for withdrawal from Iraq.

AIPAC and a number of Democrats close to Israel said the provision would have hampered the president as he attempted to leverage Iran into backing down from its alleged nuclear weapon plans. Others said the provision simply reasserted the constitutional role of the U.S. Congress in declaring war that is believed to have been eroded by Bush during the Iraq war.
